Wouldn't be surprised if some poor bookie gets clamped

What amazes me is there is so little noise made when favorites flop and it all goes down to "that's racing" now a betting coup lands and it makes headlines and earlier form is being dissected...

Englander, perhaps you can explain something to me. How did Curley cheat or scam? how did he "do in" the other punters? Did he dope? Did they have an unfair advantage during running? Did they pay off all the other jocks to pull their horses up in 4 different races?
In my limited opinion, all he did was line up 4 horses to win after long breaks (unless the BSA find different and decide that doping was involved). They got the horses fit at home, they tried them and decided that the bookies, who will probably price them up long after such breaks, should get a little tickle.......
Unless they cheated somehow, all they did was train 4 horses or get information about 4 horses, backed them, took all the liability on themselves in the beginning and won?
What am I missing? Would we have had the same conversation had they gotten beat???
If you say that punters were hard done by through backing other horses in the races that they lined up.......well I simply don't understand that comment at all.......
If that were the case, I have a large issue with MDK who won the July with Igugu when i stood to win R500k on Pierre Jourdan who ran 2nd.......he cheated me out of my retirement money

Tommy,
Im not a punter and do not have a clue how betting works .
You have to ask yourself 1 question
Is it possible to win 4 races ,sameday with horses that have had a rest .?
If the answer is YES , then nothing wrong .

Well it must be possible because it happened......now you have to ask yourself if they were cheating or not? Did they dope? Did they conspire.....if the answers to those questions are NO, then let them be....good for them!

tommy you are 100 percent correct...people think that when you pull off a coup that you automatically have been doing something thats not allowed however there are plenty legit ways of pulling off a coup...

Morning Tommy
Bud far too many questions for this poor head on a Saturday morning lol so, if I may, I'll just do an overview... Firstly, come on mate lol, that is not really what I was saying now was it? The whole point to me is one of transparency and the lack thereof. I never (I don't think lol) said Barney cheated. I do not believe from the little I have read that he did cheat under the laws of the game and I do not believe he is directly involved anymore anyway. If he cheated they would have to return the money, no? What I am, you are partly correct, assuming is that this was an orchestrated attempt to win with 4 horses that on the bare form and evidence should not have run as well as they did. I am not going to check all that form etc. But do you honestly believe that Mr Punter could have read the form and against each of the 4 horses involved written "nailed on"? Behave lol
Now I am not so stupid as to say we can do that any day but the point is in these races those involved could. There is no doubt in my mind that this was a deliberate and orchestrated plan to achieve that "nailed on" (x 4) eventuality, solely for the benefit of those in that inner circle with little or no consideration for anyone else. To me Tommy, that is something of a conspiracy and thus I can't answer NO to all your questions. If every owner/trainer in the game did the same where would we be? It may not be realistic but I still strongly believe in the only way horse racing will survive is through total transparency. You have to let the punter believe he can win and win every race. If you take that belief away then you only have a few die-hards and crazies left... have a look around and you tell me that I am wrong?
As I say, if you love this type of coup then to me you can't scream foul every time a Greeff, Smith, Visser outsider of their 4 runners (let alone the whole blardy field lol) in a race wins by 3 lengths going away. Is there a huge difference I am missing?

Can I add one more thing Tommy. Every time a horse in any way associated to Barney runs now, probably for a year or two, many many punters will wonder if there is a coup going on. Punters will have a small bet on that horse to cover it and time and time again those horses will lose. It was the same last time he performed a coup, he created a strong sense of doubt and suspicion in punter's minds and that has to also be wrong imo... not cheating Tommy but just bad for the game and it doesn't half give a big boost to the kitty of those bookies that have supposedly just taken such a big hit!!!
