Bob, if this was normal business practise, and these were general limits ,they would be out of business as they wouldn't cover basic expenses.
When I had a book I did not take bets from bookmakers (or their employees) unless we had a risk equalisation arrangement with them.
They no doubt have bigger limits in general................there has to be more to it!!!

Rob i am £165 IN FRONT WITH them,i got limited for backing a horse of Louis goosens with them think i had £50e/w at 33/1 and the horse returned 3/1 and ran 4th (only 3 places in the UK )

I had the same bet with Stan James, they decided to stop offering SAF prices from that day for a month or two

Bob,you have answered the question...................you took 33/1 on a +- 3/1 shot................surely that suggests to them that you have an edge that they would rather not contend with?

That is the question I have been asking for years.................and the answer is that its not about the bet ......its about finding the sites with "mistakes" in the prices which can be taken advantage of!!!
It is the same reason that local bookies are very wary of punts on Zimbabwe racing............over the years they got burnt a few times!

That would not be fair Rob. The only edge Bob has is that he checks the prices and they don't. Rather than do their job properly they restrict people, it makes no sense and imo is completely wrong. It is just Big Brother attitude. There is absolutely no reason or excuse why they simply don't update their prices. As you know I have a mate at another company and to quote him on his own company "you are being restricted simply because they can't be bothered to do their jobs properly". The amazing thing is, they are all the same! :S And as I have also said before, the volatility of the SA market makes it look like punters are doing this half the time anyway... and I am pretty damn sure they aren't marking down the horses I back at 8/1 which goes off at 33s! And there are a fair few of them too (I'm still learning lol). Tis utter bollox imho (as you know lol)

Rob, the BF quote is also unfair. Betfair prices, again as I have saidf before, are often well below the market price until 30 minutes before the off. Especially on a horse I think might be supported it makes no sense to wait until they update their prices to a fair(er) level. For others, it will be impossible as they will be at work etc.

You and I have had this chat before and you know that it happens......................I am not debating whether the bookies deserve it .............just that it happens!

And I am not denying it happens Rob :) But to restrict people rather than do their job? It is just wrong. They are not mistakes, they are simply not updating.

BTW... I was surprised to find that their prices are not so bad currently but, there is not a single horse in the last 4 races at Clairwood where the best price available is not at least matched by the price at the Betfair exchange market. That is why they are not really a viable option until close on race time.

Anyway, I hate this subject so I shall go away again ;)
