Jockeys Bouncing

I have noticed a newish trend among our jockeys creeping in.... They are bouncing a lot in a finish especially in a hard fought ride and it doesn't look like the rhythmic bounce of Jeff Lloyd, Pat Eddery and Rhys van Wyk, I it looks more like a total lack of fitness and invariably when bouncing the other horse gets up to win.... Anyone else notice it or care to give reasons for this untidy looking bouncing? Is it lack of fitness among our jockeys?????

These are the guys who seem to be doing it: Wrogemann, Naude, Marcus (surprisingly so as he never used to look this untidy, Veale, Brown, Shea and a few others, IMHO it doesn't look great and surely unbalances everything. Methinks they should gym more ;)

These guys never seems to bounce, just balance even in a hard fought finish: Dettori, Moore, Hughes, Strydom, Nesius, Khan back in the day, Spencer, Soumillion, Delpech, Morrera, Whyte, Mawing, the list goes on.......

Just a observation, would be interested to see the different opinions::o

The top jump jockeys seem to do it quite a lot, especially when they feel their mount is coming of the bridle a long way from home

Never noticed jocks doing it in a finish though, maybe they are scared of whip bans ? Or are they still using their whips ?

They just look tired and like they are trying too hard and then it all falls apart...

Watch the replay of the fillies sprint feature at Turffontein last Tuesday night, Naude bouncing like a tennis ball the last 100m and Khumalo as fit and balanced as can be gets up powerfully to beat him. I would put my cock on a block that if you change jockeys around, the result is different. That's about as best example you will see.

Interesting topic Sharkey.................I asked the same thing a few months back about a ride of Warren Kennedy who seems to adopt the style.

I don't pretend to know anything about riding but when I see a bum bouncing down, behind halfway on a horses back, it just looks hindering to the horse rather than assisting.
Would love a jocks comment on the point.

Was privy to a stipe talking to a certain appie who had bounced about 10x in the last 200m. Was told " only Jeff Lloyd can do that so stop it!" Another thing that has never worked for me( and many/most trainers is "knitting" when they should be pushing.
