not too many times are there horse weighted to win handicaps..few instances...would be when the horse was capped 8 merit rating points...but should have got 10 or 12...because of its margin and method of victory...but horses are weighted to win more often in plated and conditional races..where number of victories is the criteria rather than merit rating(old race figure system)....BUT HAVING SAID THAT...ASK MANY CLANNERS how many "shoe ins"...win their races...especially in PE and Kim.....even maiden plates are a good example of how the top rated get beat...i know of one proffessional punter though...that only back in maiden races
