Dave - I was good friends with Budgie - Budgie was a great guy with a fantastic sense of humour and he loved his scotch - met him through the late Johhny Haynes - also a great guy who was a very special friend. Another who was special and Johnny's big mate was Dave Underwood (goalkeeper - QPR, Watford Liverpool and Fulham) Dave immigrated to SA but sadly contracted cancer 6 months after arriving in a Durban in 1989) he used to stay at the Oyster Box Hotel and sponsored their staff soccer side for many years) - I remember the party that we had at the Oyster Box on his arrival as if it was yesterday. Dave was a man larger than life with a broad cockney accent - wow this brings back fond memories - how I miss these guys.

Dave - Yes budgie passed away in SA - I attended a memorial service held for Johnny Haynes here in Durban when he passed away. I remember Johnny's favourite saying "cor blimey"

All these names bring back fond memories of the old NFL days.
I went to Jan Smuts Stadium quite regularly to watch pro football in the late 60's and 70's as a lightie.

I also remember some othe English and German pros that spent a season or too in SA.
Who remembers the Wegerley brothers. I think Geoff went on to ply his trade in the USA.
