I answered Strydoms sms tipping service. He declared on Mentor "out in the weights others preferred. Mentor won. Now which part did I misunderstand? He rode the horse, and he said others preferred. Should I have read between the lines or what?. Maybe I am stupid, but if others are preferred, then he was not going to win or am I wrong?. I omitted Mentor and was one leg out of the pick 6. Maybe they speak in code. Can someone help me out on this.

Spend a few minutes/hours studying form and make your own decisions, that way you will only have yourself to blame.

Where can I get info on handicapping and merit ratings/

Element: Sporting Post gives all merit ratings and weights for a particular race.
1 point difference in the merit ratings = 0.5 kg of weight the horse must carry. i.e for a horse with an MR of 90 carrying 60kg , a horse with an MR of 86 in the same race will carry 58kg.

In regard to "Am I stupid? - SMS Tipping", as far as I'm concerned, any "tipping service" is a money making racket for the gullible. If these okes are so good, they would be making millions by keeping their "tips" to themselves. You don't need to be a brain surgeon to work out that their "philantropic" services to the punter are just a money making scheme - believe me I've tried a few which was money down the drain. I've had far better success by studying form and gut feel.
Just remember there are at least 38 different variables affecting a horse's performance which have to be taken into account for punting - this way one can find the "roughies"

If Strydom rode some work maybe he could tell us something we do t know. All Strydom is doing is reading form he dose not know how the horses are doing on the tracks like some of the other jocks.Read your own from.
