We went up to the Hollywood box after racing was called off and met Dev
the subject was discussed and from up there the shocking state of the track was clearly visible and S'manga pointed out all the problem areas down the straight and felt that the 700 m mark was the worst affected...Muzi was confident of winning the last race and S'manga had paid for his flight , traveled down from Jhb and would have won the 2nd race so if they could have raced they would have but there is just no way they can/will race at Greyville for sometime....

Perhaps they can sell Greyville to a hotel building conglomerate who can turn the course into highrises that will be scrapped after going bust 10 years down the line and will become section 8 housing.....
Then, perhaps they can sell Scottsville to cover another shortfall because they have made some more bad decisions.......
At some point people have to take responsibility for their actions as well as the companies that they run.
Fool me once, shame on you....fool me twice......well you know the rest!

Is it possible though that the jocks always had this plan up their sleeves. If they had protested before and had the meeting cancelled, it would not have had as severe a reaction as when everything and everyone was already there and they refused to race?
I'm not saying that is what happened but it sure would have an impact?

Just another reason to get out of racing not because of the jockeys but the administration ,how can the profesional opinions of Hawkins and his team be so far apart from the jocks opinion ?But go ahead sell more assets and keep us as racing public as mushrooms.the public is tired being fed bullshit last night was a poor effort from Hawkins to express how little is wrong with the track lets see how long it will take for them to race at Greyville again

Bignic, it was plain to see he was very frustrated. But you are right... if Tellytrack goes off the air and a decent affordable option to watch racing is not available I am going to take the opportunity to wean myself off racing !!

Nic it will be a while before we race there again, the mind boggling thing is that next friday's meeting was moved to Clairwood ages ago so why was this one allowed to stand, cannot blame the jocks in this instance, they came to the course to do a job and were unable to do so due to circumstances that were completely out of there hands, the pertinent point here is that every single rider was in agreement that the track was unraceable .

He was frustrated because he know there is a lot to answer for in the weeks to come ,what is the role of stipes(in their profesional capacity} they ruled the meeting must continue yet they wont race on the selfsame track in the near future because of its condition yet on the night they come with their sorry faces ?????They made the decision the track is in racing condition ??Will the stipes EVER be able to decide a meeting must continue in future if the jocks object to conditions?? If Hawkins and the stipes were so sure the track is racing fit then surely all the jocks must be charged in bringing racing into disrespute? I think his poor acting performance show how bad things are in SA racing

This pic does not really tell the whole story especially the mark just after the winning post which is terrible but if you watch the video you can see how the leader and a number of other runners duck in and then out down the straight..

I was thinking that they have been unhappy with the racing surface for so long and they couldn't think of a better way to get their points across?
Just a thought
