They run barrier trials in Hong Kong and Australia , what is the purpose of these trials

to record first timers and long layoffs - so that the public can have confidence in the integrity of the sport and there is no surprise of having an unraced horse in the field where money is laid.

No substitute for racing, but they are run at proper gallop not like the July gallops etc that tell us nothing
