surely if the track was "raceable" they should not have to close it pending an inquiry, the grass that was lifted was after the winning post ie the pull up area where the runners and riders are vulnerable to injury...

Titch, I was not there as was watching on tv before going down. I am told that everyone on the panel except the jockeys said it was safe to race on and when the jockeys watched the replay they could not point out where the horses were jumping patches or whatever. The pull up area was not mentioned at all. I think it was the right thing to close it until everything is proved one way or another. Racing cannot afford other instances like this which did huge damage to everyone. I gather that the closing was more a NHRA idea. As I hear more I will let ABC know.

Track looks like a war-zone...........................poly taking ages to complete. They have stolen metres of the bend into the home straight and believe it or not, there is such a small strip left of the bend that even Champ de Mar looks twice as wide.
THE TURF RACING AT GREYVILLE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN AND THE JULY WILL BE A HUGE DISASTER, FORGET HORSES FLYING AT THE FINISH LIKE FLAMING ROCK ETC, IT'S A HANDYMAN'S TRACK NOW.(td)
