Notice how often Amla being dismissed by "straight" balls...bowled, LBW, caught at wicket or 1st slip...
(1) not picking up line of ball from hand which happens when the eyes go or (2) doesn't know where off stump is and is therefore too far / little across stumps or (3) is just getting too many unplayable deliveries...I'd go with (2) and his movement back and across has become more exaggerated in last +-6 months...

That's why you have coaching staff, to point out the error of his "bad" habits. Don't believe at this level the coaching staff can't pick this up, if that is his problem.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Ball is skidding on surface so if kept straight, can rush shots...set field straight and bowl straight otherwise it will be over by 20h45...

If SA want to go to the Sub Continent with fast bowlers in the main, they won't make the second round of the World Cup. Horses for courses. The other trick (in my view) is pinch hitters, especially on the Sub Continent and in this format of the game. There is no time to play oneself in - you literally have to take your chances as a frontline batsmen - you fail, so be it, next man in. Conversely, you go at 9 to 10 runs in the first 5 to 7 overs, panic sets in, in the bowling team. Get the AB's, De Kock's, Miller's in up the order and set a minimum of 170+, and you should have a fair chance of defending that total. SA are too stuck in this fast bowler mode. Fast bowlers on the Sub Continent have to be exceptionally fast (through the air) to trouble the batmen. Anything else, why waste the airfare.

The whole structure of the team looks wrong !
Makes you wonder what the coaching staff get paid for ?
