20 minutes in and despite United looking like the away team and a few near misses, still 0-0...sitting back and defending and hoping to catch Bayern on counter...need pace to do that and can see that in Walbeck and Valencia but no pace from Giggs, Feleini and Carrick...so don't understand how the team selection feeds into tactic... :S

39 minutes in...Bayern still dominant but United catch Bayern on break and Rooney puts Walbeck through only for him to mess up chance one-on-one with Neuer...crucial miss so close to HT...

Decent result...tough second leg coming up.

At least not the mauling some of the "pundits" were predicting.

i watched the utd game and it was torture to watch fellaini, carrick and giggs in the first half.fellaini must be one of the worst signings since djemba djemba!fellaini is too slow, doesnt win any balls in the air and gives away possession every time he gets the ball.giggs had no impact on the game and was a passenger and carrick i rate as the worst midfielder i have seen in a utd shirt.he doesnt tackle, always passes back and is very uncomfortable on the ball, almost as if he is hiding away during every game.i really dont know how the pundits and football experts can rate carrick so highly when to me its obvious he is useless.

anyway a good result for utd and u never know they might surprise the germans at the allianz arena even tho that seems highly unlikely in the second leg.

Credit where credit is due. Man United defended like Trojans last night and although Munich out passed them to death United held their nerve. If that game was away I would have literally stood up and applauded them. 2nd leg should be a cracker as United have to score otherwise they are out.
