Try look at existing form, past performance at the tournament and of course gut feel...any wild cards that will get into the masters if they finish in the top 10 or win the shell open??

Personally I think form for golf is non-existent as it appears to last 1 tournament at a time so trying to back a winner ,pre tournament is like a lottery.Go to the websites of experts and see how badly they fare.
However,it is one of my very favourite "trading" sports ,but only on final day.

Having said that ,last Sunday past was a nightmare for me ...........the leader was +300 in the rankings and never won a PGA tournament.......................a classic lay at short prices..........but when the main opposition apply no pressure they can win ,and did on Sunday...................got wounded!!!

I bet on golf for 10 years and it wa my main form of income. My greatest story was in the 2002 US Open. I was living in London and Sky crossed over for a preview of the final round a good few hours before the main contenders teed off. The commentators made mention that the wind was starting to really come up.

I went to the Australian betting firm Centrebet and they had a market where you could back a golfer to score under par, par or over par (3 options) . I spent 5 dollars a time and took all the multiples for with all 10 to shoot over par. Tiger who won the event was 5/2 to shoot over par. I end up putting it through 6 times. Anyway about an hour before my guys tee off it is just a matter of how much I will win. Guys out earlier are 3 or 4 over after 5 holes.

Everything starts off well and come the turn everyone is over par. My main worry was Phil Mickelson who was one over. He ends up making 3 birdies and is 2 under for his round after 14. He bogeys 15 and on the 17th he misses a 3 footer for par. So we go to the 18th and he is level par and I need a bogey. I will win $40000 odd with a par and just over $380k with a bogey. He ends up with a par putt of 5 feet which he makes leaving me gutted.

Centrebet never offered that market again.

I forgot my Craig Stadler story is way better than this !

Jason Kokrak normally start well in the 1st round. He has shot 69 or better in 7 of 12 tournaments in the 1st round this season.

Golf markets are nice to trade. You get good prices and you pretty much just get a feel for which players do better at which courses. Dave the Flower used to be very good at golf punts. I mainly play the 3 ball as you can get over evens on some quite easy outcomes.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!
