Star of the Week - Dean Kannemeyer

Hi all,

We're going to try and have a bit more fun with our 'Personality of the Week' feature going forward. I hate that tired old 'new and improved' slogan, so let's go with 'subtly different and slightly expanded'.

Any requests, comments, suggestions, very welcome (:D

The Cape's 'Classic King' Dean Kannemeyer obligingly kicks off our new series. Enjoy !

Good guy and trainer. Craig needs to read the part about an old wise trainers comments many moons ago ;) Haha only kidding bud, but it just shows you everyone has a different opinion about the horse/trainer question.

Neigh, I am not sure which comment that was? Dean is a very nice guy and a good trainer. One thing that is wrong in the article is that Dean says that the trainers through out the Cape yards. That is not right, all that was said that they must bring their better horses and they can race. We did not want to become a dumping ground for the bad horses from CT and they keep the better ones down there. No one was ever told that they could not have a yard.Just bring your better horses to improve the standard of Natal racing. We have a shortage of boxes here already and I know they had to squeeze Therese and Lezeanne in due to lack of boxes when they wanted to start out on their own. Last comment as we have been down this road plenty times and this is the true story.

Hi Robyn, my suggestion maybe start with personalities in age order............eg. trainers over 80, then the over 70's , over 60's etc. because of life-span expectancies and experience?

Similarly with the jockeys.

Would that trainer consider trainers like Dianne Stenger, Pat Antelme, Terry Lowe good or bad trainers??? Their stats on their last 100 runners leaves much to be desired but they have all won gr1 races when they had a good horse! Pat Antelme ( Gondolier). Dianne Stenger ( Jamaica) Terry Lowe ( Polo Classic)
