:D what a coincidence. We(Tony Riv and I) were just saying 20 mins ago during a long chat ability is permanent but form is not, due to different reasons ie injury, sickness and many other problems trainers have with horses! :(

Surely ability wanes with age? Muscles shorten , tendons tighten up.... the 'wind' goes, lose strength.....or am I unique ???

The M, you are unique!:D I believe that you always have that amount of ability but the ability to utilize that ability wains with age and the other factors you mention. That is where Mike and say Anton are great as they can possibly get the horse to utilize that little bit of ability that some others cannot. Only takes a minute amount of difference between winning and losing a close race and looking good or great.

Madji, jump horses are at their peak at 7/8/9/10 but they are given an easy time until 4

Is jumps not more STRENGTH and ENDURANCE related and not so much fast twitch stuff like running at almost max pace ? Like human endurance athletes at their peak mid to late 30's?

Last 3 starts were with blinkers which don't look to have suited and are removed today.

Last win was the c & d and in a field of 7, 2.2 to 1 for the first 3 seems a fair bet.

Restraint of Trade in the 9th at Kimberly has apparently lost 4.5 lengths of ability in 6 weeks ...........MR dropped 9 points in that time frame................and we wonder why horses are given "easys" and prep runs.
Is a MR supposed to be an ability rating or a tool for manipulation?

Brainwashed people, surprised trainers in the winners box, and people who don't pay training bills. That would pretty much cover it.
