I for one have taken on the challenge to try and 'tip' UK racing. It takes me about an hour to study a meeting because all the info on UK racing is updated on an hourly basis (SA a week behind) UK racing not being televised is at a terrible low when it comes to posts on ABC. But, William Hill radio have a formidable team commentating and their presenters are great. I still find UK racing MUCH more profitable than SA racing and it's a pity so few clanners contribute on UK racing just because it's not televised. Ok, go ahead and k*k me out lol :D

I also feel that a lot of dedicated clanners are not given enough recognition for their constant brilliant input on this site. That goes for horse racing and all others sports.

Nag mense, lekker slaap.

OR, you should thank me that I don't tip on overseas racing or any other racing for that matter. Though my judgments may be of some use ... you can then definitely exclude those horses, not only from winning but even from placing, and shorten the list of horses you need to spend time studying {Mav waits to be thanked. Mav walks off disappointed}.;)

I agree that no TT coverage of overseas meetings has resulted in dwindling my (maybe also others') interest in these. And gradually I'm becoming one of those people who isn't at the track on a Saturday either, and isn't in front of the TV except to watch cricket and other sports. I've got other interests in life and only X amount of time ... like thousands of other once-enthusiastic punters.

A lost congregation of ghosts, we are, who once sat on these grubby grandstands and queued in front of these dusty Tote windows and put up with broken toilets and bad food to feed our passion. But passion dies from neglect, oh yez, it dies out in the old end. Thanks Tellytrack, for finally ending our hopeless unrequited love of horseracing. You did us a favour. Now we have other loves and it's useless coming to us with flowers and chocolates and saying, "Let's get together again! Let's give it another chance!"

And I thought I was the only one! Maybe that's because when they send RACEhorses to the course in the UK it's to actually RACE and not for grass gallops and educationals as it seems to be far too often in SA.(eg We accept without protest 'he/she will need it' from a trainer...WTF) If you cut out the 'local is lekker' bias you will have to concede that we produce far too many (unwarranted) odds on favourites and far too many diabolical, inexplicable results. So it ends up reducing local racing from a mind game to a lottery; which has probably been the operator's objective all along so as to justify and conceal (through primarily 'exotic' bets) the confiscatory takeouts which the tote levies. (One of the major reasons why the tote enjoys such limited support in the UK).

Oh! And one last thing - The comparative strength and transparency of the UK market makes it a much more accurate guide as to the likely outcome of a race. Once you are able to read and evaluate that you have a real chance at ongoing profitability.

But, sadly, I am not prepared to play along with this charade where races are 'delayed' (and often by well over 5 minutes). How dare they abuse their customers in this fashion.....irrespective as to whether they have an issue with bookmakers. So right now my horse punting is almost zero........and I'm not missing it! And particularly all the nonsense that goes with the local industry.

Now back to the Super 15..............

For me it started with removing the scrolling fixed betting then the on/off tellytrack local/overseas and yes the "war" with the operators/bookies has certainly had a negative impact to me as a punter :(

Perhaps more than anyone I would love to place the blame at phumelelas door but I have to say they the entire industry and almost all of its stakeholders stand accused ...

But I would like to give credit where it's due to the ABC crew and Bloodstock SA who in my opinion are both making great strides to turning the tide it's just a great shame their efforts are not more recognized and that they don't get greater support from the broader horse racing industry for their efforts.

Whispers are that talks and compromise with the role players mentioned are at a hopeful stage.(much better than they were) Then we could be back to normal or as close as we can be to that.

The bottom line will be the straw that breaks that Camel's back - Churnover is far more important than proving a point with bookmakers(Punters could not give a toss who's right or wrong all they want to do is have an avenue to see their selections run without having to go to the Tote or Bookmaker)

2014 is turning into a nightmare for me.i love my uk racing, since no tv coverage i stopped playing horses,in fact i dont even watch 239 anymore because i refuse to play the local crap horses from crap centres where punting is a lottery with no policing of unreal results.to make matters worse liverpool fc is on the verge of winning the epl and that is not a prospect im looking forward to.lol.

at least the ipl has started and i think the royal challengers bangalore have an outstanding chance of winning it this year.

phum and tt got me hooked on uk racing, showing me what quality horses and jockeys really are and then they pull the plug and expect me to play this local crap where they want to make an avg horse,(ltk) who is only running against and beating avg to below avg horses from jhb, into a superstar to promote horseracing, which is on a serious decline in this country.makes me wonder if these fools running the game have any idea at all of what they are doing.
