WAZ I ROBBED BY MY BOOKMAKER ? NO I WAS SCREWED FOR SURE

please answer the following for me. was I taken to the cleaners or not ?

I phoned my bookie from the Vaal yesterday to get a double on ( or all to come ) WIN BET.

red mist 11/2 onto keanu beach 7 / 1 - I got odds of 51 / 1 i was happy with that.

I also took ALL on place bet same horses ( 1st 3 places )... I got 4 / 1 ! I queried that, they said it was correct so I stuck with the bet.

1st leg 6 runners, 2nd leg 12 runners

was I robbed ? I thought one gets about 25% of the win bet, which in this case is at least 10 or 12 / 1

please advise.



part 2) went to collect my winning P.A. bet of yesterday only to be told by the bookies clerk that I had NO place bet... only 6 runners in the 1st.

I said what are you talking about , you gave me a fixed price of 4/1 which I reluctantly accepted. Now you say NO BET..... I should have been told this in the beginning.

EVEN WORSE...... my place bet on leg 1 which did NOT EXIST now goes onto leg 2.

NO they tell me you get 1/5 of 8/1 = 1.60 a place

MY original bet WIN double 10,200 / 200 = losing bet
my original place bet offered to me 800 / 200 bet not on they say
tote odds 200 place at 3.20 = 640 less 200 stake = 440 profit - so i thought
correct bet according to bookies 1.60 x 200 = 320 profit less tax = + / - 300

I TELL YOU WHAT, I'VE BEEN SCREWED LEFT, RIGHT & CENTRE.

I should have been told from the start that the PLACE DOUBLE WAS NOT ON. This bet was made after the scratching & they knew there were 6 runners.

am i being unreasonable in my logic ?

Bettingworld offers about 20% of the win bet. Another bookie I know only offers 10% of the win bet

Elvis, to get 1/4 odds a place you need a 16 horse field with no money-on shot running,[only 3 places these days, but we have exceptions] I dont have a copy of the sliding scale, but our bookies tend to be very tight on place prices, and can find no consistency between them?
We need INTERBET to come to the party on this one?

11/2 - 2 stake @1/5th of 11 = 2.20 + stake = 4.40

7/1 - 4.40 stake @1/5th of 30.80 = 6.16 + stake = 10.56

Less original stake of 2.00 = 8.56

= odds 4.28/1.

So working on 1/5th the odds for both (as in UK) you got just over a 1/4 point less.

Ooocchh my brain hurts now - lol!

Should I go that route, I need to know first am I right or wrong . If the bookie is right then so be it. But don't quote me a price, I challenge that price.... I accept those ( low odds ) then I'm told there was no bet - the following day.
