Hearing about an e-mail circ showing several boxes of dumped ballot papers. Apparently EFF and DA marked ballots.

I hope the trend continues in Gauteng with the ANC down on 2009 - For once the Cape is faster on the uptake then us Vaalies but maybe things will change on final count - I was worried that SA was filled with liars in the Cape and Gauteng as Talk Radio 702 and Cape Talk had so many callers of all races saying they could no longer vote ANC. I have no loyalty having voted for DA, IFP, ANC and before that was a PFP supporter and even contemplated voting for the NP when Roelf Meyer was around. Perhaps we as South Africans need to show loyalty to our children and their children before showing loyalty to the parties favored by our parents.

Elections today determine laws past in next 5 years and impact thereof are felt over next 20+ years...so, as I said to my Dad yesterday, this vote is not about his generation (65+ years old) or even my generation (35+ years old) but about the country that my generation's children will be confronted by...and I worry for the future of my daughter...who is 6 now and who, in 15-20 years time, will be finishing university and deciding on a prospective career and the choices she will have to make will (still) be influenced by the colour of her skin...will she be able to get into university to pursue her choice of field of study, will she be able to get a job or will employment equity and demographics and transformation limit her options, will she be able to open a business without having to spend 90% of her time dealing with employment equity and demographics and transformation, etc,etc...
