TNaicker, agreed, and she will always be in danger from random crime as well.
It happened to someone I know well, whose older boy (he has two) was shot during a hijacking. The boy recovered but Ma and Pa decided that was enough and immigrated to the USA. Besides, what were the chances of either boy - young white males - getting the promotion, etc. their talents and hard work warranted?
Fifiteen years later, Pa is Technical Manager: Outsourcing, for Glaxo-Smith-Kline. He spends half his time flying around Europe and is rolling in money and Glaxo shares.
Ma has a PhD in Pharmacy and runs conferences worldwide.
Older son (the one that was shot) did Law at Duke University and took the Chancellor's Prize. He now, at less than 30 y.o., runs his own law firm plus two other unrelated businesses in Washington.
Younger son has just completed his MSc in Pharmacy and is employed working with Government quality control of pharmaceuticals.
All this LOST to South Africa because some ar&ehole thought it fun to shoot at a child.

As disappointed as i am by the results as a opposition supporter, there are some big pluses as well.
We have held our 5th peaceful and credible set of national elections. Our voters although not changing there votes are showing tolerance for each others choices. Another signs of a mature democracy.
So 5 years more of ANC, WHAT will change??
i think the EFF will make them sit up and be alarmed. they are not COPE they are not going away. we now have a genuine LEFT,CENTRAL AND RIGHT wing political land scape.
Even without MALEMA EFF is now a force going forward and unless ANC deliver on there JOBS houses promises they will continue to lose votes to both sides.
will corruption slow down. NOPE. Will education improve for most. NOPE. Will we be better off in 5 years Probably not but we here and in 2 years time we again have a chance to push for more accountability from our public representatives.
PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN

I wish I could disagree with your assessment ,because that ANC delivery you predict will be paid for by additional taxes, mainly from the coffers of the presently disadvantaged..................X(

Clearly from the swing in voting accross all provinces the ANC is losing popularity except in KZN where they won almost 20% more votes!!! than last election - Nkandla and Zumaville are keeping the people of KZN happy!!
