Gents - with all due respect...I can't see RC finishing in the 1st 4 in the Daily News...he is taking on the best 3 year olds in the country which includes multiple Grade 1 winners and placed horses at level weights...the only reason he is so short in the betting is because of the "Marcus factor" otherwise really shouldn't be coming close to the likes of LTK, Leg, CA...my 2 cents anyway..(

Looked at the betting recently?

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Not saying he can't win, but like Futura in the July, he is shortening on what he might achieve, rather than what he has achieved to date. For me there is absolutely no value in either of them at current prices.
Also interesting is that Captain America has also shortened - I guess on Saturday the men will be sorted from the boys :

I would rather take 9/2 every day about a Triple Crown winner than 11/2 on a one time winner that has never seen this Class before and was beaten by Lockheed who is really just an old A Div type and has not even been Graded placed - I think he's overdone and I don't think he can beat As You Like let alone the top three on the boards
This is what Racing is about - Nothing wrong with disagreeing as long as you put your money down

I agree with that 100%.
Cpt America, personally I don't think he is suited to the tight Greyville track, however the money for him must be an indication that he has come on since the KRA Guineas, obviously needed that run. I wouldn't be surprised if RC displaces LTK as outright 3rd favourite, again I say they don't have to kill this horse as he is already guaranteed a run in the July if he doesn't go abroad.
Digressing a bit, just say RC wins on Saturday, what price would he come into in the July betting, currently 50/1?

I agree - whoever wins the DN will become the (new) July favorite (given that the connections of that horse does not come out and make a statement that 'X will be exported and therefore not run on the July') - at least until next week when we'll have the Cup Trial and the Gold Challenge.
For argument's sake, to all the Futura fans, I think he will drift next week, and that may be the time to back him - before he runs in the Cup Trial :S

RC is 50/1 for the july, i think that's a fair price.
