Two from Greyville from me.
Race 8 - Vino Veritas is probably a selection that will run really well and not quite be good enough to win, especially as she's up against a couple of fillies' here that literally, "could be anything" in the form of Rice and Lertasha. However, I always think you have to oppose horses with such little experience in big-field handicaps and Vino Veritas should easily outrun her current odds of 16/1. She herself is still unexposed, having only had seven starts to date, winning just one. She's ran well defeat on numerous occasions, not least last time out when not getting home over 2000m. The selection travelled really well for a long way and looked one of the likely winners around 300m out. I think her stamina emptied out that day, so the step back in trip to the 1600m will really suit. She was entitled to come on for the run too and I just feel her odds are far too big here to go without a small bet. The blinkers should be a positive, the trip will be more to her liking and she's entitled to have improved fitness wise for her last start.
Race 9 - Burwaaz is unfortunately not the same animal as the one who runs under the same name in the UK as he'd have this race won by half the track, but his South African namesake caught the eye last time out and has a handy weight to carry in this contest. Still capable of plenty of improvement, he's worth a bet in this contest. The fact he makes his track debut is a slight concern but he ought to be capable of better over the 1400m trip. He travelled really well over the mile last time and the fact he goes so well during the middle part of the race shows he hardly lacks speed. For that reason, I don't think he quite gets home over the mile and the step back in trip is a positive. His only win came over this distance and although in a fairly weak maiden, his rider that day went for home far too early and it took Burwaaz a lot of guts to get home in front. His three starts subsequently have been respectable and from the general look of his performances, he seems to be improving. A well-run race today will suit him and my ideal scenario is the race "falling apart" in front of him, as I wouldn't want him to hit the front too soon. A few in here look dangerous, none more so than National Road, who is handicapped to win this doing handstands, alongside a couple who are more unexposed, such as Mountain Master (concerned about the trip for him though, think he needs further).
Burwaaz will prefer this distance, the strong pace that's possible and the big-field, looks capable of improving off his quite lowly rating and is still unexposed. It's a competitive heat, but I think Burwaaz is my best bet of the day today.

Would have been a lucky winner, lets be honest - once Delpech hit the front it was race over until the horse played up allowing Gothic to finish closer than would have been.

Good call on Swanee River, shrek (tu)
Haven't been displaying my ARM qualities lately, so it's about time - backed Wild One on Thursday already when the betting came out, then Gothic caught my eye this morning - hence went for Gothic in the compo :S
The Woolavington looks a bit of a puzzle, seeing that none of the class horses are sure to stay - I went for Athina in the compo - the idea being to put a line through her Guineas effort - and she finished really strongly in the Fillies Classic over Turf 1800, so a Greyville 2000 should not be a problem - needs some luck from the draw, but not bad value at 12/1 imo. Another to consider for a place at good odds imo, is Mohave Princess, sure to stay and holds a few on the Oaks run - bar Ash Cloud - but at 5/1 perhaps worth a small place investment :S
