how is horseracing vs casino...gonna alluviate the lottery factor....if you view horse racing bets as a lottery..and if i wanna play lotteries...i'd rather stick with horse racing as my lottery alternative....i think i have the edge

I was punting when we didn't have merit ratings and the pick 6 was a 1 rand unit with no fractional betting and we had plenty carryovers then as we having now..how much more help do punters want than having fractional betting and first timers ruling?if you cant catch the pick 6 then take one of the other numerous exotics that are on offer...we are spoilt for choice in south Africa when it comes to tote bets s

Harry I've also been punting that long probably longer, there have never been this many carryovers in the history of south african racing please go and check your facts. You say spoilt for choice these people are just money grabbing bandits that want to squeeze every last rand out of the punter

yes jtl maybe beside couplings we should also have an owner who has more than one runner in a race be coupled for pick 6 purposes as well then maybe all grey horses be coupled for pick 6 purposes as well.its a game of skill so under no circumstances should a punter get a horse or horses for free just because it has the same trainer.why should the punter who finds the winner outright be disadvantaged because the others get it for free just because it is coupled...absolute rubbish

there was a stage many years ago in the jackpot where if an owner had more than one horse in a race it was shown as a coupling .I hardly play pick 6s but I spend plenty on jackpots and place accumulators and thanks to the powers that be they did away with jackpot couplings and also did away with the 4th place in the pa...go try your luck overseas and see how limited the exotic offer is.by the way I don't want to grow up :D

Not everyone has access to the same information and therein lies one of the major disadvantages...the skill should be in analysing all available information and then making an informed choice...just that not all information is made available to all hence most punters cannot make informed choices based on the application of any skill they have...

The right info goes to the right ppl. in horse racing if you don't have some sort of inside info then you are running a high risk of missing the mark. You can study form all that you want but the results lately have been rubbish!!!

Yesterday was a classic example.... The money poured onto that Drier first timer, but the info was out that the Mawing trained horse was the one to beat!

Mawing's horse won easily and the Drier horse ran off the board after being backed into 14/10. (td)

great discussion guys....but point remains....How do u keep the R30 punter who has no privy information?

we need transparency in this industry. The on course presenters need to pass information this on to the general public

P and telecrap guys need to check the racingpost website and they will be amazed with the amount of information is available.

if P & GC want to increase punter attendance on course, then they should see what the UK guys are doing. Their courses are always full.
