Very glad that I don't have to get on a horse today - cold wind blowing.
Mostly the usual fare on the sand today - thoughts (Englander getting lazy after only 3 races
)
R1: Two stand out and I could not make up my mind, so I backed them both - There is A Dream ran on really well last time over the 1200 and hopefully the 1450 will not prove too far - still was fair value at 7/1; The Red Tzar also ran on very well over the 1000 last time, and may be better suited to the step up in trip than TiaD - now very good value at 10/1; of the others Flaming Ace, being by Announce, should not have a problem with the surface, so should be thereabouts again - I'm going to forget Forget-Me-Not :
R2: Tricky opening leg to the PA, Runaway Time has placed 3 times from 3 tries over this trip - should place again, but to me looks better over 1000; Midnite Spirit all the rage and would not have to be a champion to win this; some of the longer priced runners to be considered for the places imo include All Jammed Up (sand debut), National Budget, (finished in front of Forever a Friend last time), Annapolis (sand debut), Coral Key (track debut and a fair draw) and also Red Please (finished in front of both Forever a Friend and Runaway Time the last time they met over this trip)
R3:Johnny Chestnut obviously stand out - wide draw only problem but should finish 2nd a worst; Cherry Breeze goes without the blinkers today and looks the only danger; sand debutants Duke of Cambridge and Strike a Rock could make the trifecta/quartet pay.
R4: 3-cornered contest and outcome will probably depend on race conditions - if the conditions favor those racing handy, it will be fought out between Jet Jamboree and Silent Force (does not seem the most consistent filly around), if there is a headwind or a fast pace, Straw Market will run them down - box the trifecta.
R5: Principles are Tomorrow's Miss and Nightingale Grey - both need to be handy though, and could cut each other's throat; Beautiful Dawn could benefit from a fast pace and sand debutants She's a Looker and Filly Bushwacker could also surprise and then Knock Knock and Lucky Hand have both put up useful efforts on the sand on occasion; I'm trusting Gavin to get the pace right.
R6: Competitive fillies and mares; Olympic Spring looks the right one, but is better over 1800 and not much between her and Imperial Empress on their last meeting over this 1600 behind Woodland Fire; a few possible lurkers at the bottom of the weights include The It Girl, Bags of Boodles and Seattle Fairy, who has run some fair races here.
R7: Very nice sprint; obviously a lot depends on how Sharp Design and Jade Bay will go on the surface; Trip Tease is in good form and should be right there again, but at the weights, Sugar and Shake will really make him run imo; Across the Ice not totally chanceless either.
R8: Very tough closing race; cases could be made for many here; Step It Up looks like she will prefer the 1000 after showing a lot of pace over 1200 last time, Dolores has fair from on the turf and must have a chance if she can reproduce on the sand, Usisi is in form and has run well here, so has an obvious chance as well, Echuka - who knows? Electric Electra can upset for a form stable - not a lot between Hillary, Slick Deputy and Foxy Ice, and the juvenile Super Guppy can't be ignored either - if somebody forced me to have a bet, I'd go for Usisi - but I'm loading up in the PA
Enjoy (tu)

lol Frodo... nope, got p1ssed off with 2 pages dedicated to a 1/3 shot yesterday and the thought "why do I bother" came flashing back
< Where is that THH man??
Thanks for the jottings. Despite their briefness, is there a horse you didn't mention? (
) just kidding lol and I don't think you should overlook FMN, though less appealing at 25s than the 66s yesterday!
