NHA:Goosen Guilty
10 years 11 months ago
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an inquiry was held at its offices on Wednesday Tuesday 24 June 2014.
The inquiry arose out of comments made by Mr Louis Goosen in the post-race interview after the running of the Syringa Handicap at Turffontein on 25 May 2014.
Trainer Goosen was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.26 in that his statements implied that the handicappers deliberately and unfairly applied the guidelines so as to cause maximum prejudice to horses that he is training.
Trainer Goosen pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board, however, found Mr Goosen guilty, and imposed a penalty of a fine of R10 000-00, which is wholly suspended for a period of twelve (12) months on condition that Mr Goosen is not found guilty of an offence in terms of Rule 72.1.26 over the said period.
Trainer Goosen has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.

Precedent set. Lets see if any other trainer owners jockeys are sanctioned in the same way.
Probably also lead to less trainers owners jocks wanting to be interviewed on tellytrack.

I do not know LG or heard the comment. All I am asking is what happened to democracy, where freedom of expression, freedom of speech is supposed be excepted in this country. If we can take the ruling party the ANC to pieces on radio, in the press and on TV why cannot we do it to Phumelela because all he said from what I read on this thread that LG was upset with the handicappers and made a comment. Come Clanners lets get behind LG and toyi toyi.

He had a comment for the handicappers something like: You did well guys, you succeeded in stopping Moggytwoshoes. Try and stop Negev now, like you try and stop all horses that win and run places.

I wonder if there is a precedent for this action anywhere else in the world of Thoroughbred racing?

I would hope so. You can't accuse people of cheating or corruption or incompetence just because you can't figure it out.

Ask Steve Reid about the antics of both NHRA and Phumelela. He tossed in the towel as his life was an absolute misery.
