The July is not a true handicap anymore but a compressed handicap, a shame really, unlike in the UK where you get weights from around 47kg's right up to 60+kg's and huge fields with a wide spread of weights. In the old days and not so long ago the July was a true handicap but sadly not anymore as the powers that be change all the tradition out the game which actually creates excitement, like the Derby and Oaks story, infact, in the UK, pattern races are hugs and have a huge following among enthusiasts, even winning the exact same maided a year or two later means something and creates a betting opportunity for a trainer. Any how, rant over, because of the weights, I don't think top weight has too much to give away and confidently tip King Of Pain to win, the way he was moving and enjoying his gallop was something I haven't seen in a while and top jock Bernie will get him placed in the right place regardless of pace or no pace, King Of Pain to win!

The narrower course, no false rail and probably no pace there will be a lot of scrimmaging which will suit the horses with the higher draws. Although LouisTK and RakesC were badly hampered in the Daily News and were flying at the finish, his draw and his turn of foot all point to Legislate.
