Why Louis Goosen has a point .....

about the merit rating system .

Featherfoot today ran of an mr of net 86 ( plus she had a 3 pound leeway from the appie )
she failed to win off that rating .

On Her last run , she ran to a rating of over 100 using not sulking as the line horse .
If it was not for the capping system she would have carried more than 5kg's then she did today .
What chance would she have had today off that her "true " rating ,when she could not even do it off her capped rating today ?

If feathefoot got the full penalty of her last run , i would think that her racing future would have been hindered to the extreme .

The capping rule may just have saved her racing career .

Lg has a point about certain aspects of the handicapping system having to be re looked .
Its not easy assigning these equine athletes their rating ......... wishing the hadicappers success

LG'S standpoint was seemingly echoed by SJGray when interviewed after the win of Yer- Maan.Said he better keep quite or he would get into trouble with the handicappers.

Gautent three year old fillies have not impressed. They are overrated. Also I feel that most horses in RSA have too high a MR.In a years time this horse will be competing in a 69 mr handicap
In my opinion her true MR should be in the low 60s
According to Nico and Ali any maiden winning by three lengths is contender for this and that
