1 - Frank Hayes (1923),suffered a heart attack during a horse race. The horse, Sweet Kiss, went on to finish first, making Hayes the only deceased jockey to ever win a race.

Copied from a previous posting a couple of years ago. For the new folks and for those who may have forgotten.

May 1936, Bay Meadows, Jock Ralph Neves

During the race his horse fell and landed on top of Neves. Adrenalin was injected into Neves but then declared dead, toe-tagged and sent to hospital. Then he had a kind of delayed reaction to the adrenalin because he woke up, demanded that he completed the rest of his races, ran out of the hospital with only his pants and one boot, hailed a taxi and returned to the track. It is not clear whether he won a subsequent race but was crowned...

Although he didnt win any races the next day he did win a watch as champion jock.
