What I have never been able to get my head around is the following :

I am clever and know the outcome of a race or event before it starts, so I place the bet win the money and I am a happy chappie.

So then I think why don't I charge for this information and take money from many punters over and above my winnings .

Yes tipsters are very decent kind people

Problem is no liability or guarantee when the result gets beat.

If you pay for a tip you will probably put more on than if it was your own fancy?

I would say be very careful as nobody knows the result in advance or they would all be minted and have no need to share this wealth with the normal punter.

@Bigvince...welcome...

Never underestimate your own ability...find a methodology that enables you to have some fun whilst making some money, make only subtle refinements and whatever success you have, you would have earned it yourself rather than have to pass the accolades to some-one else...

I disagree with most of the views on here. I know which service Vince is referring to and it is not a tipster service. It is opinion based on the reading of form and knowledge of the game. It's not like striker just picked them with no rhyme or reason, there was solid form to back them up. Strangely I had both down as 2 of my strong bets based on exactly what he saw. The fact that it didn't run like that for whatever reasons is beyond the control of the person giving his opinion.

I for one have no problem with knowledgable people charging for information that can benefit another person. It's like everyday life. I charge people to help them with tax as I more knowledgeable and understand it more than others.

Tipping services on the other hand that just throw out random horses which are usually the top 2 in the betting I am very much against.

Morning guys,
would like to throw in my 5 cents worth here
I do feel some times a good tipster can assist somebody to make money
let me explain
I have, through years experience and studying The Computaform, developed the ability to find outsiders at good prices
so a few years ago I had a tipping services by the name of Outsider Genie, because "everybody can find a favorite but it takes a genius to find an outsider B) "
I did well and what I did I tipped two horses per race, longer priced or outsiders, and my members then used that numbers in what ever bet they preffered
They did not collect every race but sometimes they made in one race more money than they would make the whole day
What I am saying is that not everybody knows how to read a race card and find the outsiders or they don't have the time to study therefore it helps them if someone can guide them.
I am in that position now I don't have time in the week anymore so I tend to play on weekends..

Last piece of advice I NEVER listen to advice of Jockeys or trainers
read your race card with a pen in your hand pick your horse and stick to it you will be amazed how many times you will be right
case: I looked at the entries for the July in May and for various reasons I selected Wylie Hall and backed it @ 55/1 and I stuck with him all the way well the rest is history.
