The best in the country- maybe Craig was right !!!

Initially very skeptical and expecting it to be a greyhound track favoring front-runners, it can now be confirmed without a doubt that the Greyville Polytrack is THE BEST all- weather track in the country.
The tight nature and short run-in makes it head and shoulders above Fairview which makes little appeal from a viewers perspective with the winning post just never coming into view.
Although one can never replace the loss of the Garden Course, Clairwood Park, The Greyville Poly is proving to be a very fair course where draw bias is not clearly an issue and the restricted fields allow for horses to settle without running too wide and run on in the home straight up the outside.
The track certainly brings excitement back into racing when fancied horses take command into the straight and with the short run-in, it cuts out the stragglers who opt to lag way off the pace and run on late.

Totally disagree, much prefer to watch Fairview, looks a far better surface, also since they moved the false rail it`s been a very fair track
Plus is there not a bias appearing already at greyville, they all seem to run wide up the straight.Infact there was a meeeting about this very subject the other day

Craig, as you know I like you and agree with your views mostly. Your passion is great. I especially admire your stand for all horses and your efforts on behalf of mistreated horses.
However, in terms of eligibility, there must be NO RESTRICTIONS in horse racing. NO LIMITS or PARAMETERS should exist. May the best horse win in ALL DIVISIONS.
And only when you and everyone else in racing grasps this, will racing move forward. There can be no protectionism nor limits. If your horses aren't good enough, move them on. Simple.
Under the guise of "protecting the KZN Owners" all you are doing is giving them false hope by filling stables. You and I both know that it is utter BULLSHIT to state that you are keeping "bad horses out" .
Racing today, dictates that if you cannot take the heat, u should vacate the kitchen. And that includes us Trainers and also horses.
In Gauteng, where there are more meetings and races than in any other region, where there are no guaranteed runners or restrictions on eligibility, the turnovers are still the highest.
We welcome all competition, without restriction.

Results from Tues 24-08 Greyville.
RACE 1 ........winner Nisa's Machine DR 2.....SP 1/3
RACE 2.........winner Translunar DR 3.....SP 12/10
RACE 3.........winner Cool Encounter..DR 7.....SP 4/1
RACE 4.........winner Off Ramp DR 7......SP 7/10
RACE 5.........winner Pej DR 3......SP 12/10
RACE 6.........winner Warcraft DR 3......SP 14/1
RACE 7.........winner Freudiana DR 6......SP 4/1
RACE 8.........winner Le Forti DR 5......SP 5/1
Very much doubt a Fairview Poly meeting can throw up results like above. Will do a comparison next time they race a full poly at the Fairview graveyard.
About the horses tending to shift to the outside at Greyville, it makes for better viewing with them coming up hard on the stands rail.
IMVHO the Fairview final 400 mts is a nerve-wrecking mind-boggler, I wonder how Alan Schoeman can survive the stress without chronic hypertension medication, really.

If you want to watch racing with 4 winners priced 12/10 or under then woohoo... not for me. Don't say never but along with Cape Town have at least temporarily stopped betting there. Personally I find it completely boring both studying and viewing racing at Greyville and CT.

Just as well you are a miniscule player with idiot's and semi-idiot's selections Englander, but here in GC country there are some serious punters with deep pockets who lump on the hotties in doubles, trebles etc.

Mikesack, of course I am right. Seriously though, the jockeys have said on a number of occasions that it is the best anf fairest surface they have ever ridden on and horses are winning from everywhere. We do have a small problem that is being rectified now in that more water needs to be put on the surface as in our heat there is too much kickback.
