A little bit of Empress Club humour!

Seeing as it is "Throwback Thursday", I thought this cartoon from the Daily News, back in 1992 would give you a bit of a laugh!

Racing needs an Empress Club and done humour

I took an overseas visitor to Gosforth Park to watch the Administrators. Everybody banked Empress Club in everything and the bookies priced up for second.
When they came out on parade my guest said "your superstar horse looks awful, it doesn't want to race"
I boxed 7 in the trifecta and left Empress Club out. The last one in was Cardinal Fury because I thought if it comes off the bend with a decent lead it may just hold on for a place.
The rest we know and looking at the pool on the tote board it was one of 7 winning tickets.
Empress Club should never have raced that day.

I was at the awards when Laurie Jaffee make a great speech when receiving his trophy.

He started by thanking the "stewards" and then followed by saying "not you lot, the bar Stewart's "

He then gave the origin of where the name Empress Club came from, it was an upmarket gentleman s club
