I'm no expert but this sale looks superior than the CTS sale

Bob

What odds will you lay that the CTS sale will produce the highest priced yearling will be from Klawervlei and that the buyer will be one of a select few?

- Jooste 1/5
- van Niekerk 5/2
- Kantor 7/2

....the TBA RTR appears on track as plans were in place a year ago.....so they lost Goss's draft but already have catalogues and all pre-planning like breezing venues and is on track....the CTS sale containing Goss's lots and whatever they can throw in from pre-training establishments not with TBA/BSA.....HAVE YET TO PUBLISH A CATALOGUE....and their sale is 2 days before that of the TBA.....and is to be held at Inanda Club....but nothing is as yet advertised officially.....nada on their website last time I looked.....have they spread themselves a little thin or are they in a spin, leaving only one month between the Cape CTS RTR and their new venture up country.....

2014 EMPEROR'S PALACE READY TO RUN SALE – SUNDAY 2 NOVEMBER

YELLOW STAR STUD GALLOPS – THURSDAY 16 OCTOBER - MAKE IT A DAY OUT!
Springtime in the KZN Midlands is just about the most spectacular place in the world - throw in the noblest of God's creatures in full flight, great food, wine and song and you have the makings of the perfect day out!

This is the script for Thursday the 16th of October at Yellow Star Stud when the KZN-consigned youngsters will be put through their final paces before being offered for Sale at the TBA Sales Complex on Sunday, 2 November.

Guests are asked to arrive from 10h30 as gallops will commence at 11h00 sharp. To assist with those travelling from the greater Durban area, two shuttles are on standby to depart from Greyville Racecourse at 08h30 and Summerveld Training Centre Club House at 09h00 - bookings on a first come, first serve basis - please contact Pauline Smith on 011 323 5700 to make your reservation.

As last year's inaugural event was so well received by buyers and the local community alike, Bloodstock South Africa is expecting an even bigger turn out this year - for catering purposes, please RSVP by 1 October: office@balmoralstud.co.za or sms to 072 476 5107 Marc / 082 926 9524 Nicola / 082 552 6525 Caroline.

The 114 strong catalogue is currently being distributed and will shortly be available at all normal collection points around the country. In keeping with the steady improvement in quality of bloodstock on offer, this year's Emperor's Palace Ready To Run catalogue is a concentration of some of the country's best bloodlines and interested parties will be assured of great choice and great value, something that buyers at Bloodstock South Africa Sales have become accustomed to. Follow Sarah Whitelaw's regular assessments of this year's Sale by going to the TBA webiste: www.tba.co.za

The log for this year's Emperor's Palace Ready To Run Cup was announced last week. Top of the log is the Charles Laird trained filly, Rich Girl - lightning fast, the big question is whether she will get the testing Turffontein 1400m? Fillies have a good record in this race as does the owner/trainer combination of Mr VC Veeramootoo and Johan Janse van Vuuren who won last year's Cup with Winter Star. This year they send out the classically bred Silvano filly, Silver Class, who won her first two starts before tasting defeat when taking on older horses at the Vaal earlier this month. With her turn of foot, Silver Class, must be respected.

Another filly, Aliysa's Prize, earned her rating by placing third in a Gr.3 at Kenilworth Racecourse, but was subsequently beaten in her next start. Of more interest perhaps, is Bella Spumante, the Brett Crawford trained, Dynasty filly who was backed to win on debut at Clairwood Racecourse and looks to be targeting the 1st of November.

Brian Burnard's Go Deputy colt, Pioneer Spirit, ran top juvenile of last year, Afrikaburn, to a length at Greyville in May before trouncing his maiden field at Clairwood Racecourse. Sure to stay the Cup trip, the Stanley Bennett bred youngster has a touch of class and regardless of the outcome of the Cup, Gavin van Zyl must have bigger plans for this exciting colt.

The Cup log will be updated again this week and further individual analysis continued until the final field is announced on 28 October – for the full log, follow this link:
www.tba.co.za/xlsx/2014_Ready_to_Run_Cup..._1_October_2014.xlsx
Notes:
1. The Log is a representation of demonstrated form at a point in time and is only intended as a guide
2. As fillies receive 2.5kg from Colts and Gelding, this is factored in when determining the log
3. The selection panel will only exercise its discretion with the log after first entries on 20 October 2014

LATE GREAT SIRE WELL REPRESENTED ON RTR SALE
The late great Kahal has made another excellent start to the season. At the time of writing, the son of Machiavellian was leading the South African General Sires list, with his runners already having accumulated over R2 million in prize money this season.

Kahal was once again in the news when his talented son No Worries landed Saturday’s Gr.2 Joburg Spring Challenge, defeating a star studded field in the process.

No Worries has been a wonderful servant for trainer Gavin Van Zyl and owner Brian Burnard, with the ultra dependable gelding having won or placed in 13 of his 25 outings and earned over R1.6 million in prize money.

He is one of 67 Stakes horses sired by Kahal, whose offspring include no fewer than 19 individual Gr.1 horses. These include Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner Chocolicious, Gold Cup hero Desert Links, SA Classic victor Love Struck and Vodacom Durban July runner up Smanjemanje, to name but a few.

Kahal, who died earlier this year, has five choicely bred lots on offer at the 2014 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale.

Lot 26 is a half brother to three decent winners. Out of a four time winner, this colt is bred on the highly successful Kahal/Jallad cross responsible for Stakes Winners Classic Illusion, Majestic Sun and Sun City.

Lot 29 is a three parts brother to Spiced Gold, winner of the Gr1 SA Fillies Classic. This chestnut is out of a Northern Guest mare, and the Kahal/Northern Guest cross has been an outstanding one, with the mating resulting in, amongst others, champion Bold Ellinore.

Lot 79 is a half sister to two winners. Out of a half sister to two Stakes horses, this filly is from the family of Gr1 winning juvenile Fallon.

Lot 108 is a filly with a very speedy pedigree. She is out of a half sister to smart Stakes Winners Wise King and Wise Dame, the latter being the dam of Gr.2 Merchants winner, Royal IQ.

Lot 111 is a colt out of a mare by Champion US sire Elusive Quality. A colt with a superb pedigree, his second dam is a half sister to Gr1 St Leger hero and leading sire, Nedawi, and his fourth dam is Dahlia, one of history’s greatest racemares.
The 2014 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale provides buyers with a rare opportunity to acquire stock by this wonderful stallion, who has consistently produced top flight Stakes Winners.

Gallops took place yesterday and the videos can be viewed HERE

Dear All
Bloodstock South Africa’s Breeze Up Gallops were concluded yesterday at Yellow Star Stud in the beautiful farming district of Mooi River, a 2hr drive from Durban in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. Over 100 horses were put through their final paces ahead of the Sale on Sunday 2 November. The video recording of the majority of the gallops are now live on the TBA website:
www.tba.co.za/bsa/catalogue.php?url=2014rtr

The 125 strong catalogue might be small in number (find supplementary entries attached), but high on quality featuring some of South Africa’s best performed stallions including Captain Al (SAF), Fort Wood (USA), Judpot (USA), Kahal (GB), Silvano (GER), Trippi (USA), Var (USA) and Western Winter (USA) and a smattering from overseas like Bernadini (USA), Henrythenavigator (USA), I Am Invincible (AUS) and Star Witness (AUS).

The horses will arrive at the TBA’s world class Sales Complex in Johannesburg from Sunday 26 October and professional consignors Ambleway Stables, Balmoral Stud, Far End Stables and Yellow Star Stud look forward to showing off their drafts.

Please note that Piroplasmosis tests will be available for scrutiny on Friday 31 October and will be posted on the TBA website.

For all logistical and accommodation requirements, please contact myself or Caroline Simpson.

Best wishes

Peter Gibson
