Stunning pic but agree they should stick to a decent dress code in the parade ring, would never be allowed overseas and the island is also very strict on dress code even at 40 degrees

This topic has been brought up a few times on here and you'll be surprised to find out that quite a few clanners are in favour of a 'come as you please' dress code.......

The criteria needed to become an owner has changed from 20 years back. Dress code should be the same. The majority of owners race horses as a hobby. Why should they dress as if they are going to a funeral when their horses run? I put it to you that those that advocate dressing up are living in a vacumn. Times have moved on and trying to emulate the dress code of an era long past will not attract any new business. Time for the powers that be to do some proper research and allow owners to wear what they want, after all owners are paying for the show are they not?

I am with Dave on this one. If you have a runner and want to go into the parade ring or hopefully lead it in, then surely it is not difficult to dress in a decent pair of longs( no holey/dirty jeans) a collared shirt and some closed shoes.

Rob I am not "surprised " that many want to come as they are.
I think the main point is that rules and regulations have been set in racing ( right or wrong )
We have rules on objections, weigh ins , dress code etc etc
So why break a rule that has been set or change the rule.
Again this would not happen in the majority of other countries.
Maybe it's because we are generally a nation of little ethics from the top down?
Plus we all have our own opinion on how to dress on a race day if you have a runner and I am still off the old school where I regard it as an privilage to be a racehorse owner even if it's put me in the poor house and can't afford a suit.
