Evening all

I have hired a box for the evening racing and taking a few non avid race goers down for a night at the track hoping to spark some interest and get something regular started.

Big thanks to Loopy who is allowing me to put up his logicfinvalue ratings to help the guys with a bit of betting.

What I wanted to know from the clan is what do you suggest I can do to help introduce guys to the game and help them enjoy the evening.

PS - booze already on the list so got that covered

Bob - please change topic to greyville not Greenville

I am sure we will have runners on that evening. 2 possible races for Go Richie. I will drop in as well.

Get them to take a multi place bet with 3 to 4 legs across the race winning a good some of money. That will keep them intrested in the race.

Richie , I don't think that anything will make the bug bite more than the excitement of watching bets develop race be race , especially if decent payouts start to look likely so you definitely need a box participating Pa , jackpot and maybe pick6.....( take a % of one those wide Loopy bets( you need the bet to survive as long as possible , winning obviously being the cherry.)
The good thing about racing is that the gambling gods seem to ensure newbies win first time out!!!certainly in my experience-good luck in creating some converts!

Richie , most important , their first bet MUST be a winning one.... even if they take a place bet that pays R1,20 ....
Make sure you take them down to the ring from race 1 ...nothing beats that feeling to be so near the horses and dicide beforehand what horse you gonna talk them into to take a bet. (remember they know farkall about how a good horse and a donkey differs in looks....they will agree with everything you say about this specific horse.) When jockeys mount up make sure you scream the jock's name on your fancy and make sure the jock acknowledge your support. the newbies will be all in by now if it was a poker game.....and make sure the newbies see the colours and what gate the horse jumps from.
You need to be super exited and shout your fancy home.
forget the boooze and everyday shit that they can get or do everyday at home....When in rome you do what the romans do!!!!!
they will soon follow you without hesitation to the paradering and taking bets and shouting home the fancies you helped selected.
Make it fun and keep it simple with bets.....wins , places and the exotics.
keep them involved and exited with what selections you all have in your next leg of exotics .....
Introduce them to every racing personality you see oncourse, owners , trainers , presenters and always try show them the commentary box and the man behind the microfone.
Ask openly for these people what they fancy or heard and get the newbies to feel important and hear the so called good info from a wellknown whoever in racing.
Never let them do what they can do at home ....they wont return with next invite.....open their eyes to a new exiting world of horseracing.
Really hope you can get a few back into the game we love !
