What is the priority?

Have pointed out the lack of interest by "P" in the local racing product but I am not sure anybody takes that seriously.
However you will notice that over the last year ,every large win by a SA punter on the soccer bets gets a fanfare, including from the organ grinder and his assistant when appearing on Tellytrack.
During that same period ,there have to have been some equally life changing returns from local horseracing pools and there has not been so much as a mention................is that simply indifference to the core business ..............or isn't it the core business?
Time local racing was put into the hands of a focussed management team!

I saw a front page corner advert in a newspaper ( must be from Natal) from Hollywood giving a large winning dividend for a punter(Dev could probably give more details) The sooner Phumelela realize that Racing is NOT a sport but a Financial dream the better - For years I have told these people to advertise wins but they refuse to do so - The masses WILL NEVER watch Racing for "the sport" - It's about MONEY so let the public FOLLOW the money instead of trying to sanitize Racing under the banner of "Sport"

Sorry Bob

Gambling will never disappear as its contribution along with the other sin taxes is a sublime source of revenue in a time of austerity.

No government will turn that tap off completely when the only alternative is political suicide by taxing the population more heavily.

Unfortunately racing will only ever become a priority again when it can prove that it could be a source of sustainable growth and bottom line profits.

This is still a possibility but not with an antiquated business model churning along without a plan and a whole bunch of people with their heads in the sand.
