This year, SANSUI, Gauteng Tourism Authority and Racing. It’s a Rush are taking the legacy of Johannesburg’s premier equestrian and fashion affair, the sensational SANSUI Summer Cup, to thrilling new heights. After 127 years of rich heritage, this year’s event promises to be bigger, bolder and more extravagant than before. To be hosted at the lush Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday, 29th of November The SANSUI Summer Cup plans are well underway.

“The Summer Cup has a profound and iconic history of horse racing indulgence. It’s Joburg’s horse racing heart; the pulse, the beat and the soul of thoroughbred racing for the Golden Region,” explains Mike Varney of Racing. It’s a Rush, the event’s racing and gaming partner. “The desire for this year’s event is to reinvigorate the sport of horse racing with a revived passion to a new and vibrant audience,” completes Varney. This goal has set the tone for this year’s marketing activities which includes, a first for The SANSUI Summer Cup; a festive online viral video. The video, ‘Jozi Jockeys,’ showcases a comical rhetoric regarding the fun and excitement of a day at the races, in a typically Johannesburg style through the story of taxi driver jockeys, which are synonymous with the city. See the video here - www.youtube.com/channel/UCGkF_5V__9CztymqZq-7HGg
The revitalised appetite of sponsors and partners has the pace set with more celebrity shine, fashion festivities and racing rush than ever before. Marc Joubert, Group Group Marketing Executive at SANSUI in South Africa is passionate about the event in its entirety. “SANSUI are pleased to enter into our sixth year of sponsorship with an event of such stature because it reflects the qualities that SANSUI, a globally recognised consumer electronics brand, is well known for; quality, aspiration and credibility. The premium occasion is a unique union of the entertainment, sport and fashion industries in one powerful and exuberant event” explains Joubert.

For racing industry familiars and newbies the day is a rush of racing excitement with a total of 12 races taking place across the day. The main event will feature only the top thoroughbreds of 2014, challenging one another over 2,000 metres for a staggering stake of R2 million.

For the fashionistas and socialites the day has more than enough style and glamour to full the mid-race moments with true paparazzi appeal. A fashion show, a set theme and best dressed competitions await the glam race goers. To excite a truly celebratory mood – a celebration of Jozi, of racing and of ourselves – the theme has been suitably set as “Hats Off” So grab your best hat, suit up and prepare for a ‘day at the races’.
As class, elegance and beauty are all at the core of this annual occasion, SANSUI are thrilled to announce that the multitalented Dineo Moeketsi is the “Face of The SANSUI Summer Cup” 2014. The gorgeous actress, TV presenter and singer is delighted to have been cherry picked for the role. “I am both honoured and excited to be welcoming guests to this significant event in November and I am looking forward to leading celebrities through the Racing. It’s a Rush Celebrity Dash on the day,” says Moeketsi.
Thanks to Racing. It’s a Rush this year’s Celebrity Dash – now in its fourth year – will see the winning celebrity giving away R475 000 to the chosen charity, SOS Children’s Village. The heated sprint has grown in popularity and this year 20 of Jozi’s top celebrities are awaiting their go at the course for a cause. “We are over the moon with the generosity shown by Racing. It’s a Rush and The SANSUI Summer Cup,” says Yvonne Stiglingh of SOS Children’s Village.
At The SANSUI Summer Cup the giving doesn’t end at charity. The SANSUI Summer Cup is quite evidently in the mood to give the Jozi crowd and visitors a spectacular day to remember. This year, on race day, SANSUI will be giving away 10 cars valued at R100 000 each. All race goers stand a chance to win, simply by attending on the day. Additional prizes up for grabs include best dressed honours in five chic categories: Most Elegant Lady, Most Stylish Lad, Most Striking Couple, Best Hat and Best Mo-Bro of Movember. One Fashion show will be hosted on the day at the racecourse in association with DSSA (Design School of Southern Africa) & Steele Models Studio. For the ladies, the “Mo-Kini Sprint” remains the sign off activity as a handful of SA’s hottest men swap their kit for ‘mankinis’ to complete a cheeky 200m dash to raise awareness for Movember SA.

Various entertainment and catering sections will offer race goers a wide variety of food and fun. The popularity of the Shisha Nyama area as well as the Summer Fair picnic spots means you should book your tickets and group sections sooner rather than later. For more information on tickets and packages visit Computicket and our Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/SANSUISummerCup ).

The SANSUI Summer Cup stakeholders include: JD Group (as the licence holders of the SANSUI brand in South Africa), Megapro Holdings (Pty) Limited, Phumelela Gaming (Racing. It’s a Rush) and hosting partner, Gauteng Tourism Authority. The official media partners for 2014 are Kaya FM and Daily Sun with the following list making up the fashion partners: Fashion Designer JJ Schoeman, Jewellery by Jenna Clifford, Milliner – The Little Hattery, Shoes by Europa Art Shoes, VIP guest transport by Uber as well as Movember SA.

So gear up, select your favourite headpiece and gather your pack because it’s that time of year again. It’s time for The SANSUI Summer Cup, proudly hosted by Gauteng.

Dave, like a bit of the 33/1 on offer on No Worries. Looks to be getting better with age and could be value at those odds.

Well done Hollywood on opening up an early anti post market.

If Bold Inspiration wins the Michaelmas and doesn't run again I think he will be well weighted and the right horse for the Summer Cup, he is my early selection.

Both the Snaith runners are trading at good prices, Arion and Dynamic. They will both come in with relatively low weight. Somehow think he will leave Dynamic at home to have a go at the Met - this was to be he's July horse back then.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.
