Consider the following = People who use taxis don't have cars. Here is their chance to win one. The ad is pitched at that demographic group?
And BTW, the ad is not on mainstream tv. It's a pity but perhaps it is a blessing in disguise at the moment as the industry has a lot to learn about exactly what you expressed, - the loose ends for delivery of a streamlined marketing mix. In any case, the market has to develop and mature first before a mix like this can be rolled out yes?
When you are giving away something as general as a car(as opposed to free hair extensions for life or a trip to see Lady Gaga for example ) then you need to maximize that baited hook - The very fact that very few of us actually heard the hook(free cars) shows how poor the message is - I find that if I need a foreign film guide or a crystal ball to understand an advert then that advert is just visual masturbation for the creative team which does the client and product no good. Simple is best especially when you are trying to reintroduce a forgotten product - Racing need new small punters and that's where the focus should be not the Loeries!!

Whilst I agree the horse and horses racing etc should be used for mainstream, advertise the product - how can one steer away from the perception that racing is for those who are flush? How does one grab the attention of that segment of the market...who can't afford the R2000 seating, who do not own a horse let alone a car, etc etc?
That segment who will fill the empty void that is the lawn area? That segment who will make up the vibe, who will be small punters?
Don,it has to be seen through the eyes of the target market of "Its a Rush" .........a NEW market ....... not sure clues are as obvious to anybody who has never had any interest in racing...............BTW I don't hate the ad , just think it should "join the dots" a little better.

agreed. That's a good line = join the dots. I think the 'join' ability and the 'dots' are still in development...it is vague at the moment, and yes, whilst I also like the ad, I agree the punch isn't straight enough. You can tell its done by a group who haven't done marketing right? Not for 30-odd years, that is. It is a bit of a hit-and-miss-hit of who is the target market and what is the message, again?
Are there any other horseracing ads out there around the globe -? bar the one in Melbourne on the billboard featuring the dead horse, of course.
