I don't know for sure that it's the only source of income. Probably not but that is only my conjecture.
Gazza, his missus runs the horsey venue and is very closely involved with the GN Showjumping team if memory serves. So the motivation is definitely there.
Not knowing Adriaan at all, it might be reasonable to surmise that the horsey motivation is coming from her - not the other way around

I can tell you they dont own any part of the franchise brand pizza perfect/burger perfect. That is owned by 3 greek individuals and in fact is forming part of a listing on the JSE in a short while

They also own Misty Meadows Equestrian Estate which is a major horsey venue / function venue in Pretoria East. *Very* big venue.
Some of his racehorses also spell there when not in training

Fair enough - then it is most likely a number of branches.
Of course, I could be wrong

I think this may be him as a few racing sites refer to him as an IT magnate?!......

Thank goodness for guys like him who enjoy his horses winning more than financial return...........the golden days of racing was full of them......Oppenheimers ,Engelhards, Gallos, Hurwitz and many others.
It is interesting that the jewish community have not maintained the prominent position that they once held in the industry...........a great pity.

Would be good to get insight from a tax-expert as to how a big owner benefits some form of tax-relief??
Although the once familiar Graham Beck and L Jaffee silks are no longer seen here in KZN, it is most encouraging to see owners like Roy Moodley putting in modest sums of money without greatly enjoying the success that the above-mentioned had with their horses in KZN.
Mike de Kock has brought in international owners in the Sheikhs from Dubai and others and it can be said that most of their horses race for the pleasure and not scooping all awards and stakes.
Mention must be made in the W.Cape of owner Hassen Adams who also invests heavily in that region in horse-flesh. He readily filled the gap left when owner IM Patel, who had many good horses trained for him by Mike Bass, passed on.

No tax relief to my knowledge due to introduction of ring-fencing of losses...prevents losses from secondary trade reducing taxable income from primary trade...

Think he should place some horses with other trainers and not with Azzie alone
