Kenilworth, 25/10

Some really smart sorts stepping out tomorrow which makes for some really tricky but top class racing.
The Cape Classic appears a three cornered contest, but finding the right one looks really difficult. It will be interesting to see how the bookies price up. If merit ratings are used as the guide, then MLJet (54.0kgs) has to be the one to be with. Act Of War (58.5kgs) has proven he's class, BUT, can he concede 4.5kgs to MLJet, Al Capitano and 6.0kgs to the balance of the field which includes the highly rated Heartland (52.0kgs)? It would be interesting to hear Marcus's opinion on how he feels Heartland would go in this race, having won by just under 10 lgths on debut. On MR's, Heartland should not beat MLJet, but that debut win was so effortless, he may have received the maximum rating for that win, but in fact, could be much better than rated. For Act Of War, it may be a case of de ja vu, where in the Langerman he received 4.0kgs from Kingvolt, and the rest is history. Can he concede weight allround and still beat this field, it is he's home patch after all and he is a 3 time winner? I think it's fair to say, whichever horse one sides with in this race, cannot be a bullish one. Your thoughts?

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Never sure about the ratings of the good juveniles vs the up and coming sorts that didn't race at 2. If they are on mark it's done and dusted for MLJET. No value there though so taking a small punt on Zingaro but kinda hoping that something emerges as an absolute champ from this race.

With you on Brutal Force and Grey Light, both should win. Just looking at Marcus's book of rides, many have winning chances, just need to mix & match them and it could be a profitable afternoon.

Dean, honestly I will not put a horse from this race into a multiple, reason being, many are returning from rests, but one could go flat out and stay on and win, De Kock, there is a possibility he could run flat second time after the rest, Kingvoldt must be a more than decent sprinter, Asstar cannot be written off, and you could make a case for virtually the majority of the field. You get the gist.... but don't let me put you off squire.

In my opinion Grey Light might be the best young filly in the country and I believe she will give Majmu a run in the Cape Classics which she invariably is being prepared for.
She may need the run a little tomorrow but she is all class and should dispose of them. She is 1 kg better off with the top one but she is 1.5kg's under sufferance with Acrostar but i feel that one will lose ground and shouldn't be able to make up the ground on the grey filly.
I think ML Jet at these weights has to be a good thing!
I don't fancy Brutal Force

I have Blarney Bay running. He is fit and very well and back to his best course and distance. Carstens is ill, and MJ gets the ride. We lose the 2.5kg claim, but MJ has done well on him previously. Takes on some decent sorts. Readytogorightnow may be the one to beat, but I think that we are in with a good ew chance.
My other runner is Jet Swinger. We thought she was good enough to have a go in the baby race on Met day, but she has disappointed last 3 runs. She appears to be coming to hand, and I would not be surprised were she to place. School Run looks the one to beat but lots of possible improvers.
Some stand out runners which will be hard to beat are:
Brutal Force; Grey Light;MLJet and De Kock.
