Now there's one for Magic Lipps to give his expert rating on!!! Sorry but he doesn't post here anymore.
Regarding your maiden horse, it's obviously a 2 or 3 yr old runner and they do get rated a lot higher early, also to what sort of horses it would have competed against?
I'm not too sure, but there are clanners who are clued about ratings who can shed more light so all is not lost.

As per my one question posed on the "MR application" thread!!!
This horse was a 76 exactly a year ago .............ability had been reassessed down to a 61 by July when winning it's maiden and now back to a 80 (after 6 wins in a row)
(The horse has been very well raced and ridden..........and ran to its 80 rating on Sunday IMO, so connections need to be complimented)
The problem I have is the principle that a horse's ABILITY can go down and back up by some 10 lengths in 12 months??????

I think it was well handled by both trainer and the handicapper. That's when the system works imo - rate horses according to what they do instead of what they are supposed to do.

I have to agree - well done to owner / trainer and not forgetting the horse
