TEAM SA TAKES THE LEAD AT THE INTERNATIONAL JOCKEYS CHALLENGE
South Africa will take a healthy lead into the second leg of the International Jockeys Challenge at Kenilworth tomorrow (Sunday 16 November) after some exciting racing at Turffontein Racecourse today.
They lead by 255 points to 152 thanks to a double by Anthony Delpech and another winner from Richard Fourie. Germany's Andreas Helfenbein got the internationals off to a good start by riding the Steven Moffat-trained Luala to victory in the first race of the Challenge and Adam Kirby's second place also earned valuable points, giving the Internationals a 61-39 lead. However, Delpech hit back with a win on the Bradley Maroun-trained Antonius Charm and Fourie's runner up spot helped South Africa square the tie at 100 points apiece. Fourie then scored on the St. John Gray-trained Captain Aldo before Delpech ensured he was the leading rider on the day by winning on the his guv'nor Mike de Kock's charge Ataab. Juan Paul van der Merwe replaced a booked off Piere Strydom for the final race of the first leg of Challenge and the South Africans achieved the rare feat of filling the first six places in this race.

As predicted by most on the forum the SA team gave the internationals a riding lesson, just hope they learnt something from watching our jocks. Can you imagine if Superman was there, would have been race over before it started :woohoo:

Is it just me or was the International not as exciting as previous years? I think the organisers missed a trick by not having a Friday night meeting in Johannesburg. I also believe that the quality of the international team was lower than on previous years.

I think he wants to be a jockey one day...went around to all the jocks to collect signatures for his cap...

Pirates,I punted Lucky Hand on Saturday and thought Doyle gave it an average ride at best.
Agree with CP in some respects regarding the quality of some of the jocks.
Doyle and Kirby in particular lack experience in riding overseas and Harley is 18th on the UK
jockey log.The jam role I've never heard of and the rest were out there on holiday.

I can guarantee Yasin Pilavcilar won't be getting an invite again, they can't have many horses in Turkey.
I hope for he's sake that the saddle slipped on Lemon Tea,if not punters deserve a refund.
He was as balanced as fat bird wearing 6inch stilettos.

What is this 'success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm' thing at the bottom of every post - are you trying to tell us something Bob?
