Are you here to hear only what you want to hear???

Why be here in the first place if all you want to hear is your own beliefs. This to me is sad, how can we ever grow if all we ever hear is what we believe is true to us, all we are doing is feeding our ego, or treasured beliefs...........

If we had to post inside info only, I believe very few people would post. Maybe I am just ignorant, but I do not believe there are that many clanners who actually do get inside info?
Besides info, there are some astute form readers on here who see things differently to others and actually get it right more often.
Isn't that valuable enough?

Many years ago I took a lass for a drive to the government buildings and asked her "do you believe in the here after" she said "what do you mean" ?
I said " well if u are not here after what I'm after, you will be here after I've gone.

And was she still there after you'd gone Dave?
SL, I am not entirely sure what you are aiming the comment at...
if the daily thread... I, and I know some of the other regular posters, "yearn" for more to contribute but you say anything and the knives soon appear
if life in general... we all have built up beliefs, morals etc and they are much harder to change in a forum environment than a chat over a beer
if racing in general... 100%. No disrespect to Craig, I am not interested in what is discussed at their breakfast meetings, I have been to plenty (similar) of those and know what is said there is often very different to what is said in private, as Pirates perhaps alluded to on the same thread. Figures etc we all know can be manipulated to show something that is not the reality, the company I once worked at had to be sold because one individual was doing exactly that. The Craig meetings is just an example (thanks/apologies to him for using it!) but generally what I want to hear is that the powers that be are out and about on race days talking to the punters, the trainers, the owners and using what they hear. It is one of the reasons why Don is such a breath of fresh air on certain threads, open and honest and always willing to discuss/help. If only others would follow the example...

People need to lighten up and get a sense of humour.Laughing at ones self is a good start.
Being able to laugh at yourself is a sign of an optimistic personality and a sense of humor and it might even improve your mood. Humor has also been identified as a possible factor in the development of personal resilience.
I fell over yesterday when running the line in a under 14s football match, the kids thought it was hilarious and after scrapping the mud of my jacket and jeans,I could see their point.

Agreed Dave!!
Just saying that we are often closed to "differing " opinions and ideas and in so doing, limit our own "growth & understanding".

Dave I don't disagree but don't forget that is, imo, the basis of British humour and it is often not "understood" by others, what we can say over a beer and laugh about others can take personally and get heated about. Never got me in trouble but has got me in a few awkward situations during my travels. Took me a while to appreciate the issues, I would feel it was a light hearted joke about someone but they would take it very personally and sometimes as an insult. Simply different cultures. Have you seen those Chelsea fans on the train to Mumbai yet?

If you can laugh at yourself (first), it is unlikely you will take offence when some-one else laughs at you...
