C&C - no, Craig Peter is quite correct.
Sea Cottage was shot in the hindquarter a few weeks before the 1966 running of the July. Vets could not find the bullet to remove it, but he recovered well enough to be declared fit to run that year and still finished a very creditable 4th.
When he deadheated with Jollify in 1967, he did indeed win with the bullet still lodged in his hindquarter.
The bullet was only retrieved after he died.
