Actually No 2 was SEA COTTAGE in Syd Laird's colors and NO 19 the lightly weighted JOLLIFY in the Saunders silks.

Was not a punter and very under-age to know about racing but come the 1st week in July and Ernie Duffield was on the radio all over the neighbourhood, he could really rattle them home.

But those were GOOD DAYS !

Might I remind the Clanners that Jollify and the "Great One" dead-heated here.

Having watched replay a few times, I really thought jollify held on but who can begrudge sea cottage the share of the spoils running with a bullet in his backside, these where horses who bought people to the course not to see the fashion

i think that you are wrong there regarding the bullet in that particular race.. I read somewhere that he was shot prior to a July yet he still ran and finished 4th.
