Marshalls World of Sport - Friday 12 December

Marshalls World of Sport has been down countrywide since 13:15 today. There
was a major hardware malfunction caused as a direct result of the recent load
shedding, which caused a loss of power to the primary servers based in Verulam.

Technicians have been working frantically to recover from it, and continue
to do so. There are no current time frames as to when services will be restored,
but the technical department hope to have everything back to normal very soon.

This has affected all MWOS branches, internet and telebetting today.

Marshalls World of Sport would like to apologise for the inconvenience this has
caused all loyal customers.

Thank you Greg but their clients have been phoning , no answer no recording message not a good advert for loyal clients..

Customer service required a proactive response rather than a reactive one...

When there were similar problems with the website a day or two ago, I was able to call through and advised that they should have sent an e-mail to all account holders...they have this information on hand as they send out fixtures every day...

It is better to communicate bad news before any queries from customers rather than waiting for customers to call in and communicate the same bad news...

Hi Len, it was a massive malfunction, and power was down, so the switchboard could not function. There have been loads of tech guys working through the night to restore services, but as of 9 am Saturday they have still not manged to resolve it.

The databases have been restored and all Marshalls World of Sport outlets
should once again be operational. Events and fixtures are been loaded and
updated, and once that is complete all past events will be resulted.

The website ( www.worldofsport.co.za ) as well as the mobi site (mwos.co.za)
are not yet operational, but they are currently been attended to.

time.

@GM...thanks for updates...I'll wait for the website to be operational again...never be in a hurry to lose one's money !!! I only have a MWOS account so this downtime is a welcome break for me...

Are your databases onsite??

Where is your DR plan to cater for events such as these?

Surely Marshall's have an offsite DR facility with backup generator

Just thought i would these questions as Marshall's is a service provider and these things should be catered for

By the sounds of things and updates on this issue - the restore times for your databases is slow which impacts customer service and your restoration times from your IT service provider needs to be questioned

Len, I would contact them in writing giving them 48 hours to settle.....then go to the gambling board to get them involved!. Good luck...............

P.S. Sounds as if they may not be able to recover their data or more likely its been lost!!!!...
