Snaith Stables
Legislate's post-race vetting revealed that, after a scoping and a lung wash, that he has a serious viral infection. He has been treated and will only run the J & B Met if he is 100% fit. This Champion will be back!

I ask under correction but is this not the same problem that Futura had which caused him to be scratched from Diadem and then miss a Kenilworth gallop? They live virtually next door to each in Philippi,if so then it is a short term problem, as we all saw no long term ill effects to Futura to put it mildly.

The Legislate thread was embarrassing. Once again the talk from their pocket after the event merchants displayed their uneducated colours. The same fools who believe it is their right to phone trainers they do not have horses with and demand "inside info". My advice to them is consistent. Go to the casino if you believe that racing is rigged. Bob I have proposed a card system of sorts previously. It is time that people who get out of hand are given time off to cool down and hopefully this will stop the type of absolute nonsense that was written after Legislate got beat on Saturday. My 2 cents worth.

ota when playing in the casino for example red or black ! your chance of winning is 50% ! This is a pure gamble !
legislate had the best form on paper going into the queens plate ! was made a 5/10 shot (and traded for huge volumes at around that price) . Now , with respect, as a punter i spend time analyzing the form and in my book legislate over the mile had that field stone cold . When it came time to part with my money . Tell me ? was i not better off flipping a coin to punt red or black , instead of spending time to study form ?
The difference is that racing is supposed to be a game of skill !
Another one Hoponopono(see greyville thread) and Kerrar a few weeks back , on paper Kerar , to me had an outstanding chance ! Punters were taking 7/10 all day . Not a drum ( greek legend(2.5lbh) and Gambol (10lbh) both franked Kerrar's form ).
If Kerrar ran 2nd or 3rd fair enough ........ but unplaced ?? Yes i understand they are flesh and blood ..... but when i do my cash in cold blood like that . Does my bookmaker say to me , "dont worry here's your money back because your horse had a virus or whatever else !" NOT !
People say dont talk from my pocket , ffs , its not monopoly money on the line here !
Far too many genuine horses are getting beat ! Sure there are many false favorites that lose , we punters try and identify those as best we can(game of skill) ....... but when it starts becoming a guessing game what is the difference between betting heads or tails or red or black .

Solotrama the first rule of racing is there is no such thing as a racing certainty. If you take the blinkers off, the bookmakers factored in that the horse was not a certainty or it would have been 1/20. There were some good horses opposing this and whilst he should have won on paper, races are run on grass. Short priced favourites have been beaten for decades, it is part and parcel of the game. Remember horses are flesh and blood not machines. To listen to some of the posters on this forum you would think that there are guarantees attached to horses deep in the red.
I say again, if you are looking for conspiracies after every short priced favourite gets rolled then you are better off in the casino punting on your red/black combinations. By they way its not 50% green is also part of the equation.

Stick to the true fact that the horse does not know its an odds on favourite.. if it feels like running on the day it'll run..

On the other side of the same coin a 5/10 also means that he has a probability of 33% to lose.

Guys, if this is the same/similar virus my VA had a year ago in Cape Town that Legislate has, you would not be able to pick it up in training. It only shows in racing and comes on very quickly (over night). It seems to affect horses differently and from my past experience some horses take for ever to come right.
Bottom line is Justin would never have run L if he knew he had a virus !

I have not the remotest doubt Legislate ran on merit.
However ,on the point of the other 2 favourite subjects in racing.......
1) Conspiracy theorists! conspiracies are not a myth, they exist ................I am not guessing ,I know!!!!!! and I bet you, I know of less than 1% of them.
Racing survives cos very few conspiracies are actually successful
2) Talking from the pocket.Racing exists on what comes out of the pocket so every wagering opinion is from the pocket ................why wouldn't it be............its what makes people observe! Its the completely biased view of some that always back the right horse, and if it doesn't win it must be somebodies fault, that is damn irritating, but on the other hand, some horses should win on every piece of evidence that exists ,and when they don't the regulators should step in and establish feedback to head off wild speculation................but don't hold your breath.
Step 1 should be an announcement of an enquiry into the run ,within minutes of passing the post...........punters,knowing someone in authority is going to ask questions should delay wild speculation.
eg.After the 3rd race yesterday I was going to post (the site had just gone down) that Strikers ride was the best all month for Tarry...........even though he was on Lucky's horse!
Turns out I was fully entitled to that view when the reasons unfolded, but if the post had gone through ,I would have been accused of talking from my pocket, like its some kind of affliction.....lol.........but yes I would have been!
