Lets just call it pure jealousy then. 5 bar for a stallions pedigree well done to him. I presume he outbid Jooste so that in itself must have been a first.

Titch wrote: Money was no object when the super-rich faced off on Friday night in a challenge to buy Africa’s biggest buffalo cow.
But in the end, Cyril Ramaphosa was beaten by Jaco Troskie, son of Bloemfontein film magnate Boet Troskie, who paid a record R20 million for the buffalo cow – and her calf – at a game auction near Rustenburg.
Ramaphosa bid up to R19.5 million, but decided to call it a day at that point.
Earlier, as the figure approached R10 million, most of the bidders, who arrived in flashy cars and as many as 10 helicopters, started to quit.
That left only three big guns – Ramaphosa, Troskie and Peter Bellingham, who paid a record R18 million for a buffalo bull called Senatla last year.
Approximately 2 000 onlookers and prospective buyers burst into applause when the bidding reached the R18 million mark.
But in the end, with a single, almost unobtrusive, gesture, Troskie indicated he would raise Ramaphosa’s bid by another half a million rand. Deal done.
Now he is the proud owner of the biggest buffalo cow in captivity anywhere in the world, and her calf.
Seller Piet du Toit burst into tears when the auctioneer’s hammer came down.
“I put up for sale the animal with the best genes and hoped for the best, but this exceeds my wildest expectations,” Du Toit said.
The auction was held on Du Toit’s farm and about 250 animals were sold.

If this guy set off to the sales with a 8 bar budget why did he not even have a buyers card?

It's clear that Mr Du Toit values pedigrees and best of breed for longer term progeny returns or value from the sale of a proven performer, once established.
Pretty sure this horse will never get cut, no matter what.

I remember a long time ago a horse called Newspaper Man who was bought for a HUGE amount of money (at that time), was bought for 460,000 I believe. He was not even to be showed the scissors no matter what.....he landed up a gelded winner of two races.
Something about the best laid plans...........
All the best to oom du Toit. I hope he has as much fun in this game as we did.....greatest game on the planet!

Well done to Kuda who do a lot of business with these game farmers and got them involved.
This Business needs every buyer it can find. We know they have little chance of recouping their money but they do it for the excitement and all types of other reasons.
Bottom line is without the horse buyers , where is racing???

James, you are not wrong. The only thing I worry about is if you get a man with this type of money into the game, he buys 2 horses that turn out to not be worth their price tags and he is out like a light....Would you not rather involve him slowly, get him hooked with some wins of reasonably priced horses and keep him around? I'm sure van Niekerk, Jooste and all the big boys didn't start with buying the most expensive horse on a sale?
Just an observation, I have no horse in this race (so to speak), just trying to suggest what might be the best for horse racing?
