To Anton Marcus yesterday, by all accounts it looked nasty and everyone that saw him or spoke to him feared the worse.

Now they say it was tissue damage and he might try strapping it and riding like this.

I`ve never sat on a horse since blackpool beach donkeys in the 70`s so don`t know what kind of effect this will have on Marcus( he probably doesnt know either yet)?

Plus he`s just back from a long break and might not already not be 100% race ready?

thoughts?

The man is an absolute professional in every aspect and if it is at all possible for him to ride then he will, however if he feels that he wont be able to give 100% then there is no doubt he will stand down..I for one really hope that the former is the case..

Anton Marcus will miss the J&B Met meeting at Kenilworth on Saturday, where he was due to ride Gr 1 Investec Cape Derby favourite Act Of War among others.

Marcus was injured at the start of the third race at Scottsville on Tuesday.

Marcus has just returned from an eleven-week absence due to thumb surgery. The good news this time is that it is not a serious injury and he only expects to be out for a “very short period of time.”

His mount Alpeonie flipped over in the stalls and his foot was trapped between the filly and the handle at the back that opens and closes the gates. Miraculously there were no broken bones.

Besides reverting to the old tapes format not much that can be done about a horse playing up in the pens
