I used google to translate so there may be a few errors
Times are tough in Mauritius Turf Club (MTC). The degreasing operation, which began last December, this time hitting 15 grooms hard. They were warned Monday that their service is no longer required as of 15 May.
"It's a real hammer blow. How are we going to do to provide for our families? Some of us have 'loans' and must repay. On the radio, the president promised that no Jeenarain Soobagrah groom employed by the Club would lose his job. Now we are told that the situation is critical and that we can not continue. We understand nothing, "exclaims one of those affected by the decision of the MTC. And to clarify: "They say that it is the last 15 grooms employees affected by this. This is not so true! »
As a solution, the Club asked the teams to make an effort to re-employ the grooms at their own expense. Except that they explain that their base salary will experience a significant drop from about Rs 6900 to Rs 4500 and Rs 5000.
At the MTC, an official explained that "45 people are affected by the degreasing operation: grooms, staff, manual workers, etc. Since we decrease our expenses, that grants the stables are reduced, it is obvious, and it is unfortunate that grooms bearing the burden. We separate ourselves from our staff who have over 65 years. We do this through dialogue, but because we can not do otherwise, given our situation and budgetary measures that will be implemented soon. »
At a Monday meeting with the General Manager Benoit Halbwachs and HR Manager Deeya Dabee, 15 grooms have expressed a desire to meet the president of the MTC to express their grievance.
Meanwhile, they do not know where to turn ..
