I thought a clanner made a very good case for the winner and I followed him, must say he is very good (once a month!)

Bookmakers gives nothing back to racing but let's support them.
Got to love the logic, preach what benefits you.

Please find one post of mine where you claim I said they give NOTHING back to racing :S
It appears that your memory span is somewhat limited so let me refresh your somewhat limited recollection ..I actually said that they must readdress their contribution or desist with the open bet..how that managed to confuse you is beyond me ...but then again....

For the benefit of El Slow Mo ~ Posted 14th Feb under the Tab and Teletrack thread ~
Capiche???Titch wrote: Over the years 10's of millions have been lost to the pick 6 pools just in carry overs alone, once there is a carry over every cent that is placed via the open bet goes into the bookmakers coffers never to be seen again, The argument that the open bet allows you to know your return before the jump certainly doesn't apply to the Pick 6 and Jackpots etc the only guarantee one gets is the same payout as the Tote unless the payout exceeds their limits so imo not only are those who take the open bet shooting the industry in the foot but they are doing themselves an injustice at the same time...
The solution is simple, if the bookmakers are so hell bent on laying the open bet then let them do away with the limits that the seem to revel in hiding behind and readdress their contribution towards the industry that is the very foundation of their business...time for the "Everything in our favor" attitude to desist.

The problem is that "P" decided to take the big stick to the bookmakers and went to court all guns blazing ...........FAILED badly, so the actions of the bookmakers is now perfectly just ,and "P" helped them prove it (albeit by mistake)
Why would bookmakers now adopt some sort of philanthropic attitude to the situation...............never seen a WO number on a Bookies website yet!
The only way now, is to put the bookmakers in a situation where they need/desire a compromise of sorts ........I think there are few strategic things that the operators could do ,but hey what do we know?

Fortunately the Teletrack feed belongs to the operators and the next court case, which is immanent, will be a gloves off affair and one way or the other there will only be one winner in that fight...

There shouldnt be a fight
everyone should realise that in this day and age we have to have a choice where we spend our money.
Bookies are nearly finished with racing, the game is fucked and if squabbles drive away the remaining few hundred decent horse racing punters ,the game will die quicker than a choc ice in the Sahara

Bob truth of the matter is racing will never die...if the bookies choose to lay sport and not horses that certainly wont mark the end of racing...quite the opposite in fact

I hope you right ............the problem is that the track record does not fill one with confidence........as far as I know ,the only court ruling to date was that Tellytrack had to supply a picture and at the old price!
My fight is not whether the open bet is good for racing ........its obviously not, but put the RIGHT product in the hands of a customer focussed ,well managed organisation ..........not the crowd that are cocking it up so badly now!
(BTW there was a suggestion in the recommendation of the gambling commission that the operations and the tote should not be under the same management!)

Go stand in a tote or a bookies, watch the queues for racing and sports or numbers..
15% slippage Marshalls take on racing these days..thats 15%
then go look at the age of the sports punters( young guys excited about a punt)
then go look at the ages of the horse punters (auld farts like you and me )
