R2 Doncaster Alzammaar E/W. Devilment is by far the most likely winner here, but he is too short a price at around 4/7 and his official rating of 138 strikes me as around 10lbs higher than it should be for what he has achieved over hurdles so far. The selection has improved with each run over hurdles and was only just touched off at Warwick last time with the rest of the field well strung out. Should enjoy the drying ground and a big galloping track like Doncaster. Decent E/W value at 8/1, but don't be surprised if Devilment and McCoy run away with this.

R7 Ludlow Communicator. Classy flat stayer who would be nailed on to win this on his second to Josses Hill on his hurdles debut last season. Disappointed when only fifth on return to hurdling in December, but was travelling well until making a shocking mistake three out and wasn't given a hard time afterwards (stable was also badly out of form at the time, but their horses are running well now). Only has Mighty Missile (rated 30lbs inferior on the flat) to beat on form and can break his hurdling duck here with a clear round. 9/4 (with Coral) is far too big and won't last (should be no more than 11/8 for me).

Apologies, Bob, have posted this under SA Racing by mistake - please feel free to move it.

Didn't see that coming - taking nothing away from the winner, but Communicator didn't look to be putting it all in.
