Card has some important scratchings. Amazing how many Joburg horses get scratched because of no transport. Surely they could be scratched earlier ?

Yes indeed. Very cruel
Still dont know why must the punter bears the brunt for scratched horses.
Especially when you read the lame excuses.
As if its the punters fault For No Transport(Race 6#9 @ 10% deduction )
I will not win Immediately but Definitely.

Imo, if a punter has taken the risk to back an outsider (at fixed odds) instead of the hot pot favourite, the bookies should honour this bet instead of deducting due to a scratching. The punter obviously thought that this horse could win prior to the scratching of the fav? But thats only my opinion and im a small fish in a very big smelly pond

I wonder will their rule of deductions stand in a court of law ?

10 years 3 months agoThere is probably some silly clause or small print mitigating their risk :dry:good2soft wrote:Merchy wrote: Imo, if a punter has taken the risk to back an outsider (at fixed odds) instead of the hot pot favourite, the bookies should honour this bet instead of deducting due to a scratching. but the winning odds of that outsider have been greatly reduced when a favorite is scratched. It's basically a new "book" or race - imagine Majmu running in a Graduation - 1/10 and the field are now 8-1 and better - Now she is scratched you have to recreate the betting race so you cannot expect a punter that has backed the third on the boards(12-1) to still get those odds as the race has changed completely. The risk the punter took has changed regardless of which horse he backed . That's why a punter does NOT get penalized if he takes a BET AFTER the scratching and the betting has been adjusted

Hi Guys got interest in two runners Jet Shuttle got breathing problems ,Zietsman is confident of him running in the places I am not convinced that he can go much further than 1400m-Jack Friday will be trying his heart out again and is honest as they come but outclassed hope to place -Carribean Bay I think on run behind Black Pepper will be a big runner .Reports is track should run fast in early races but strong wind blowing which should dry it up.Happy punting

10 years 3 months agoMr H i understand your point of view and that odds certainly have to be readjusted, but what i am trying to say is if a punter is prepared to go against a 1/10 and back a 12/1 before there are any scratchings why should he now lose a major portion of his bet if the fav gets scratched? I fully understand why the prices are readjusted when there is a scratching but i cant for the life of me understand why a bet laid BEFORE there are any scratchings cannot be paid out as such.mr hawaii wrote:Merchy wrote: Imo, if a punter has taken the risk to back an outsider (at fixed odds) instead of the hot pot favourite, the bookies should honour this bet instead of deducting due to a scratching.
